Lamb/mutton are some of the least eaten meats in the US. Pork, beef and chicken are the staples. After that it goes to fish and game animals like deer, elk, moose, bison, bear, rabbit and so on. I have met a few people over the years that did not like pork outside the US/in their countries, but they started eating it in the US because it taste completely different. The breeds and how they are raised can and will change the flavor and texture of the meat.

Most of the Super Bowl food is real meals but made to share. We wouldn’t make that dip for a snack outside of the Super Bowl it would be an actual meal. But since Super Bowl parties are so big, usually you make enough to share, everyone gets like a spoonful. It’s just two of them so the portions look crazy.

We have lamb and mutton but no, we do not eat either normally. It's mostly a restaurant or special occasion or a family with cultural ties to that type of food. My father's side is Lebanese so sometimes (haven't had it in years) will have kibbeh which is made from lamb and bulgur wheat and some sometimes pine nuts. But that's just my family. I know lots of people who have never had lamb in their life.

Just so yall know. Tailgating is a way of life. Once you get into Smoked food. You either learn how to smoke it yourself. Or go broke buying smoked food items all the time. 14 to 16 hour cooks are the norm. You can use anything from a dedicated smoker to a Crockpot, to a hole in the ground. The ammount of time you spend directly over the food while its cooking is dependent on heat source. I usually load my smoker at midnight. In fact sitting over the cook is typically a group event .

When Mrs. H was trying out her new smoker, someone told her to spray the meat every hour, but every time she opened the door of that small smoker it had to start creating smoke again; and then she wondered why it took almost half again as long as she thought it would for it to cook. You might watch that episode [Mr. H and Friends] Put a can of water in there and leave it closed as much as possible.

People typically have for snacks that are hand held or dips for chips/crisps, or soups and stews, or yes BBQ or grilled chicken steaks, seafood. Pizza is also a favorite

Pickle Juice is really good to help you keep from getting cramps. It was a secret really until several sports people said it is especially good in hot and humid weather to keep leg cramps at bay. It isn't a silver bullet, but it does really work. Just straight pickle juice. I know it sounds odd, and thinking of taking actual drinks of pickle juice may be off putting, but it does seem to work really well. May help if this is a problem in hockey as well.

I eat lamb on Easter often, but it's not common in the US for the most part. There's actually a fascinating history to why the beef is much more common than mutton here. There were actual armed conflicts over grazing rights between cattlemen and shepherds known as "Sheep Wars" which led to a dearth of locally raised sheep for eating in this country.

This is Super Bowl food that we all normally have at home to watch the game or get together with friends and family for the day. This is pretty typical for the Super Bowl. The game is really all about food. We have an empty nest now, so we have scaled down, however, it's Super Bowl Sunday. Neither my husband's team (Green Bay Packers) or my team (Pittsburgh Steelers) are playing - it's really all about the food. Monday morning, everyone has to go to work no matter who wins. The Super Bowl is really about getting together and the food!

Everybody has something to contribute, and in the end we have a buffet of meats, wings, bbq, and snacks to feed about 50 more people than will be there. Go 49ers. Its a lot of food, but keep in mind its a 4 hour or longer game, no big plate full, just a lot of little plates spread over the entire game including about 2 hours of pre game show too, and the puppy bowl.

Lamb's popularity depends on your culture or the country you're from. I'm latin and we eat a lot of pork, chicken and beef. But there are many dishes in Mexican and Caribbean cuisine that use lamb or mutton as the main ingredient. There are many cultures here in the US, as you already know, that don't eat pork or beef, and they prefer to cook lamb or mutton. Game meat is also gaining popularity in cities, but it's very expensive, so you're gonna see more game meat eaten in states that you can hunt for venison, rabbits, game birds, etc.

He would hand roll a couple of hundred the night before the superbowl, cook them, then let them simmer in his HOMEMADE (100% homemade, no pre-made sauce/additives) sweet and sour sauce. I am not a huge meatball fan, but I would devour them. Lamb is one of the traditional options for Easter, along with ham, turkey, or beef. Lamb and mutton tend to be a pricer meat, so you may find it at high-end restaurants, but the traditional rack of lamb is very uncommon in the modern American home. My family loves lamb, and we have it once a year or if things are going really well, maybe twice. It does vary by region, but generally speaking affordability wise, it goes chicken, pork, then beef, with turkey jumping back and forth each side of pork depending on the time of year. And honestly, where I live, it's cheaper to buy a couple of lobsters than to get a small lamb roast. Now this is for general super markets, some ethnic grocery stores cuts of lamb or mutton may be cheaper.

Too smoke brisket the easy way, you smoke 6 to 8 hours the night before. Then you put it in an oven at a very low temperature (100C) overnight for the next day's lunch. Most can't tell the difference. If you are hard core like some of us, you get up at 3 or 4 in the morning for a late dinner. It is a bit like fixing Peking Duck. You plan ahead. Depending on where you are in the US, lamb and/or mutton aren't eaten very much. It's usually found in higher-class (and price) restaurants. Jono, in preparation of you doing BBQ, watch a lot of the YT videos "Mad Scientist BBQ". You'll learn a lot towards your first attempt being a success.

Somebody needs to send this family a recipe for ranch dressing or send them ranch dressing packets for their chicken wings or their favorite raw vegetables.

Lamb is rarely eaten in the U.S., and I've never seen mutton available at all -- and I'm really old.

Lamb is available in shops but isn't traditional to American cooking. You can find it at nicer American restaurants and it can be quite pricey. It is common in ethnic restaurants like Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, etc.

I live in the Piney Woods Swamps of Southeast Texas. You're correct. Lamb or Mutton is nowhere near as popular as Beef and Pork here in the States. But there are areas of the country that do eat lamb and mutton more regularly. I understand that in Far south Texas, more people raise sheep and goats there and therefore more people grew up eating Lamb, Mutton and Goats. I've had Both many times in my life. But not everyone are used to it and are basically culinary cowards. They won't eat anything that they didn't grow up with. What a shame! Oh well... More for us!

lamb i generally see being pushed more on sale around easter, but in general it's a lot more expensive and harder to find than beef pork or chicken in the states. i am a fan of lamb though, it's hard to go wrong throwing a leg of lamb in the smoker.

Aww the Jolly guys missed an opportunity with their jerseys. There's a set of brothers that they should have worn the jerseys of. Jason Kelce plays for the Philidelphia Eagles and Travis Kelce plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It's true, when you are that full after a superbowl party, you are too stuffed to fight and there's still more food.

It's snack food because you're going to be eating it during the game as well as before the game. Most people are watching the game as a complete neutral so you don't really care about the result. The idea is to go over to a friend's house, have a party and chat with friends. Every few minutes you can update yourself on the game, but otherwise it's 4-6 hours of socializing with friends and family, watching the over the top commercials, eating food, and enjoying the 30 minute half time show.

its hard to be mad and fight people when you are that happy and full. You really just want to take a nap. Games over? cool, nap time. lol It's superbowl Sunday morning right now. I'm making breakfast then as soon as thats done I'll be starting food for the Superbowl. wings, ribs, ham rolls (the deli meat with cream cheese and pickles but i use ham), cheese and meat and cracker tray, Mac&cheese, sausage dip with tortilla chips, meatballs, veggie tray, and then anyone coming over will bring another dish or dessert. it's very much like a holiday

The only thing missing from this spread is jalapeño poppers. My favorite are jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, boudin, and pineapple, then wrapped in bacon and cooked on a grill.

My family eats Lamb but I’m a Chef and it is a bit pricey here so it’s not common. We have amazing game here in Utah as well that is cheaper. There is lots of pizza on Super Bowl but you better order early or you won’t have it by game time

Most Americans didn’t grow up eating lamb so they don’t like it. Some markets don’t even carry it. Most lamb in the US comes from New Zealand. I’m an odd one because I LOVE lamb.

One of my former co-workers raised and sold lambs and mutton to a couple of independent grocery stores, butchers, and restaurants. There’s a restaurant in Bardstown, KY that is well known for the mutton it serves. But lamb and mutton seems to be a popular dish in Kentucky. Tarpon Springs, FL is home to Orthodox Greek Sponge Divers and in a couple of the restaurants you would see a lamb cooking on a spit in the front window.
