On a blustery January Day, I was shocked to find out that CF&E #3885 was pulling Mid Michigan #24 along with its train bound for Kings Milling in Lowell. This was the first two engine lashup on this ex. Grand Trunk line in a decade. #3885 has been the regular power on the line for a year now since #24 blew its main air compressor. #24 was out to conduct some initial testing of the new compressor to see how it worked. For the next few weeks this would be the regular lashup on the railroad to make sure #24 was in good shape. Although it didn't lead in this video, which was made by putting several iPhone 6 clips together. It would lead several times in January and February. At the time of this upload, #3885 has been drained awaiting relocation to a new G&W owned shortline for further work while #24 has been picking up the slack once again. There could supposedly be a new locomotive joining #24 very soon to lug longer grain trains out of Grand Rapids to prevent doubling.
Locations include a shot just outside of Ada, Michigan, pacing along Grand River Drive, a shot outside of Lowell, Michigan along with two scenes in Lowell, Michigan. One of these shots includes a double horn show as both crews make some noise in Lowell, Michigan.
