An afternoon with Conrail YDLA3, the local that worked Lansing and south.
1. Switching at Michigan Packaging Company. This facility on the south side of Mason was quite new at the time and access to the tracks was easier.
2. Crossing Covert road southbound with 3 grain hoppers for the elevator in Leslie MI.
3. Arriving at Leslie & spotting the hoppers at the elevator.
4. 1678 heading back engine light past the old Leslie freight house.
5. 1678 passing the brick farm house at Plains road and then crossing from the west to east side of Eden road.
6. 1678 crossing Tomlinson road
7. Back by Michigan Packaging the crew uses gravity and the spur to Kent Feeds to get the engine on the north end of the train.
8. In Mason, the crew does some more switching by MB Lumber at Columbia st, & between Maple & Ash.
9. Finally, they gather the rest of the cars and head north across Ash st & head north to Lansing.
