The Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGP013 is encased in 40mm of stainless steel surrounding a blue dial on a stainless steel bracelet. Pure elegance. No unnecessary writing on the dial, the Quartz movement adds to the simplicity and elegance.

A true classic. The plain, time and date only 9F by GS is "THE quartz piece" in my opinion. And even if mechanicals are the kind of watches revered by enthusiasts today, quartz is a very major part of horology, and thus I personally see this piece as a classic, Seiko releasing the first quartz movement and being the only ones making anything like the 9F today (as far as I know). The highest horological level you can go in a technology that is less revered, but actually utterly superior. *Now Citizen has maybe had the highest technological achievements in quartz in recent decades, and I have great respect for those pieces as well (The cal. 0100 and the Chronomaster etc.) Their chase for the ultimate quartz movement is high horology too in my opinion. Credit where credit is due. But the 9F still holds it place as due to its serviceability holding it "competitive" to high end mechanicals in a way I feel Citizen's movements do not. I feel a bit more secure with the 9F, that in 50 years time, if the time-piece still exist, Grand Seiko will still be there and a 9F can be serviced and go on. This is not the case for the cal. 0100 for example, and wasn't supposed to be either.

That quick set hour hand is massively underrated - its my favorite part of a traveller GMT and apart from Omega's 8500 movement I cant think of anyone else doing it. Really nice feature!

@@shushanthswinderballs1122 That is just because of the angle of the camera...trust it is dead on the marker. Watch the video again and you will see when the camera is straight on the dial the seconds are accurate....

Just a great watch with no bells and whistles. Just bought this watch and am awaiting it. You simply realize when you have a Grand Seiko in your hands how good the quality of workmanship really is. I love and adore many watch brands and models but I tend to go back to not only Grand Seiko but Seiko in general as their watches are great price/quality. Not only their modern portfolio but also their vintage (dive) models. Different subject....

I just purchased the SBGP001 champagne and 003 black dials. I do not need any more watches I am done. No Rolex no omega. Thank you Grand Seiko for making the perfect quartz watch and for only $3k. And yes I forgive you for your classic clasp design with no microadjusts or no tool adjustments. I mean why copy Tudor when you can just keep copy paste on all your watches at all your price points.

I chased only Swiss automatic movements to realize that they were so inaccurate, like 1 to 4 seconds off a day which is not bad but not good enough. My omega Seamaster automatic date stopped changing. Had it serviced by omega and it came back with smudges on the second hand. I sold it. Got a grand seiko quartz.

@yorusuyasoul agreed perhaps the best watch there is. The purpose of those machines is to tell the time and grand seiko quatrz does it with much precision.

The way the second hand moves, that's my favourite part. So smooth and the ultra microscopic 2 movements per second movement helps achieve this. Im tossing between this and a The Citizen equivalent. The citizen has the eco drive and perpetual calendar, but the second hand movement on this mesmerises me.

I love mine... The precision operation and finish of the GS Quartz is very beguiling. The plus point for me over my few mechanicals is the depth of the watch - the lugs sit lower and beyond the backplate. This results in a brilliant and seamless fit on my 6.5 wrist. (As clearly demonstrated in your review). I also like the bracelet very much...I have a Rolex and I much prefer the GS Clasp to the bulky Rolex design. (I am 76 and I can easily see and read the framed date wheel. I don't need a magnifying glass just yet! Tell that to Rolex.)

Love the lug styling of the 9F Heritage collection. Probably in a minority but I can’t stand the 9F iterations with the 44GS case and the chunky angular Zaratsu lugs. This is sleek, and much more flattering for small to mid size wrists.

I got the SBGV231 from Japan for 1.2K, black dial with black date window, titanium and nicer bracelet than this one (older 9F82 movement). Been wearing everyday 😂 GS quartz really hits different, i dont find it annoying like cheap quartz especially you can feel the second hand vibrates twice to hit the exact second marks.

Yes, this is a serviceable movement. I have the black dial (SBGP011) & love it. The bracelet could use micro adjustment but overall I'm satisfied with my watch. Much more beautiful in person.

I own the black dial version of this model. Bought it used. Accuracy has been better than the ±10 seconds per year Grand Seiko advertises. I've had it for about 10 months and it's only gained 3 seconds. Heavier than it looks. Almost 150 grams. The finishing is outstanding and the second hand hits every mark perfectly. The bracelet is good, not great. Even though I like the watch a lot, I'm not sure it's worth the $2600 retail price. I'd be more impressed with the watch if it had a display caseback. The 9F85 is decorated and finished better than many luxury automatics.

@@4398flsdj The only genuine complaint people have about the bracelet is that it isn't tapered. It really should be tapered.

I have the SBGP017, which does have a display back ... and to be honest, there's not much to see with a 9F movement - no moving parts are visible. (What it does have is a spectacular dial, unmarred by the power indicator that afflicts most spring drive models.)

Beautiful watch but the bracelet is almost identical to my 600 dollar Seiko presage. Brushed links with polished sides, For 2200 dollars I’d want something just a tad bit nicer.

Rolex oyster also has brushed links with polished sides lol. If I was gonna complain about GS bracelet quality I would point to the clasp design, not the types of finishing (GS hand finishes the bracelet btw, Rolex stopped doing that a long while ago).

You have to see 44GS case. I mean, I really like that case... Rest assured you will find beauty in that case. Also, the bracelet is better looking. Check SBGP001 Have good day

They look vaguely similar but once you wear both you realise how different they are, the GS bracelet is many levels better than the cheap stuff that ruin Seiko’s.

I’m not sure what’s more impressive, the engineering or the badge engineering. It’s literally a quartz 3 hander with “Grand” written next to “Seiko”

@@nishantprakash5928 That's the nominal accuracy. You're likely to get +/- 5 seconds a year in most cases. The movements are designed to last for decades; they get serviced, not tossed out and replaced.

Dress watches are supposed to be simple. This is a great all around watch, simple enough to be dressy but sturdy enough for everyday use but it is not a sports watch, but could hold its own on a vacation if you wanted.
