I think it's time to start talking about the environmental damages caused by hikers and skiers. They cause more ungulate stress than any other form of recreation. With the population boom in Colorado, this is a real issue that needs to be dealt with.

This exactly. I know a lot of towns rely on tourism, but the amount of people coming through CO and ruining spaces needs to be dealt with

wolves and deer and elk lived together for thousands of years in balance before European colonists showed up. Humans with bulldozers and guns upset the balance - not wolves.

@@AmidatThis country will never be able to return to how it was prior to European settlement. Those days are gone. It is a different time now. Due to human population growth and continued "settlement" The only way to keep any balance now is through human intervention which is done under the name of conservation. Only conservation will be able to maintain any balance keeping both wolf numbers and game populations in mind. Regardless game populations will fall hard, it's happened in every state that has wolves. Conservation is funded only by hunting license dollars. In the time period you reference, wolves also had 60 million bison to feed off through out north America. With that being one example, without that population today wolves will effect deer, elk, moose amoung other game populations in a very negative way. If your statement suggest returning to how thing were prior to European settlement, please start by doing your part. Europe is waiting for you and perhaps others will follow.

@@lathafalls7675wolves can sometimes hunt for sport, & in 20 years.. your elk, deer, etc. populations will have decreased significantly. Farmers & cattle will also get affected by this introduction, at the end of the day that is the wolves home we’re just sharing it with them 🫡

Voters in metropolitan areas, insisting their will upon minority populations in rural areas, by mandating policy from far away. And often, without tlaccurate information to base a decision off of, in the first place. This is our National political problem in a nutshell

Ranchers make up less that 1% of CO population. It is a bellow cost, subsidized industry that uses public land for it's operations. Why should millions of people's opinion be bent to will of livestock industry? Wolves do not alter or increase the cost of beef or at least there is 0 information on how that's happened. Adding onto this is the fact that depredation accounts for such a small fraction of livestock death (around .0025% according to the USFWS in 2015). Furthermore, in what profound way does actual affect rural communities? Hunting? In all states with wolves, I couldn't find a single example of outfitters going out of business nor supreme hardship due to a lack of hunting. So what exactly are we complaining about?

The population and percentage of ranchers is irrelevant. Their needs exist despite your percieved lack of importance.@@Reed411 the livestock industry is one of Colorado's foundational bedrocks. Or do you totally ignore history? Industry generates taxes which fund the State. You know, taxes. The sum your people love to squander. Wolves interfereing with cattle absolutely can cause increased costs on ranchers and farmers which get passed onto the consumer. Believe it or not, stress can affect birth rates. Let alone wolves harming or worse killing free range or otherwise, cattle. Rural communities have to have an increased watch on livestock, pets, and small children. My stepmom is still grieving Socks the Cat, taken by Coyotes in Castle Rock just ten years ago. Wolves have much greater size and abilities than coyotes. This results in increased security and safety concerns, costs, which are undue burdens imposed by outsiders. Hunting numbers are down everywhere thanks to mismanagment like the wolve reintroduction to Colorado. Don't take my word for it. Go ask a hunter. Anywhere. And look at some testimonies of hunting enthusiast KZfaqrs. I know, because I watch many of them. Speaking from my own personal experiemce, I knoe deer numbers are down in Tennesee, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado. There is no we here. I am a red blooded American loving Patriot. With utter disdain for anyone or thing sympathetic to leftism or communist tactics and ideals. 🇺🇲

There are elk, moose and deer in MT, ID, WY, MN, OR, WA, CA, oh let me see... and oh yeah every other state with wolves. They still have healthy hunting seasons with healthy districts. Oh but Colorado! Say goodbye to your ungulates. wtf are these people on.

@@wowufailatlife I have friends in WY who hunt and have very strong opinions on wolves. I'm not anti hunting, I support the industry and clean protein for our families. But at a distance, the subject of wolves has created a sort of overly hyperbolic mass hysteria in these communities. Like a kid picking a fight and turning it into a full blown tantrum. The fact is, there has been no SIGNIFICANT impact on sportsman or outfitters due to wolves. Indeed, with the introduction of apex predators, there are certainly less elk and deer, that much is true. But if we are to share the landscape, have you ever considered there might be too many hunters proportional to the amount of apex predators we have? We don't really ever hear anything about that...

To be completely honest, skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and hikers cause more damage to the environment and cause more ungulate stress than both hunters and wolves combined, but nobody wants to talk about that. Gotta keep those facts hush hush.
