@@geffern As Cobalt said, it's due in part to British influence, though thanks to the Indian Ocean trade routes, they wouldn't have been strangers to the area before then at all. But things especially kicked off with Indian influence when... *sings* "THE SULTAN OF OMAN LIVES IN ZANZIBAR NOW! (It's just where he lives.)" And the Sultan had good ties with the Brits. From there, Zanzibar eventually became the highly unique place it is today.

If you've never had seaweed before, that's kind of the only way to describe it lol. I eat seaweed snacks all the time and when people ask me what it's like, I say 'its like going to the beach....and eating it." If you've ever stepped into the sand, and smelled that deep, earthy, salty, fishlike smell, that is the seaweed washed up on the beach that you are smelling.

it doesnt really, unless you dont like pickles. BUt most pickle desserts dont reallY TASTE like pickles either. regular Pickles are just cucumber with vinegar (tart), some salt, and some spices but maybe they make their own pickles too? For quality control. and then just other pie filling stuff that works with pickles. Sugar and vinegar work well together and its chopped up finely so everything mixes. I'd assume you probably dont taste anything weird. -
