This is the ultimate stoner musician song. Every band has been through this: You smoke and start jamming. It always comes when you least expect it, so you're not recording. You play the first thing that comes to your head, and it just so happens to be the best song in the world. The problem is you're stoned, so once you're done it's gone forever. And no one believes you. Genius.

Well, the fact that they ended the movie and TV show "The Pick of Destiny" with a scene where they made the BONG of Destiny should tell you enough about what stoner level these guys are. Not forgetting most scenes in the movie are examples of good and bad trips XD

I think that's universal for creative types who smoke weed. Brian Posehn had a Comedy Central Presents special (1999, iirc) where he said "I can't write jokes when I'm high. I used to work for the record label that put out this album, and worked on the website for the band. And yes, I loved it from the first moment we spun that album in our office before it was even released to the public. My work team and I rocked it daily for months on end, memorizing each and every song verbatim... however, I already knew some of the songs beforehand because I was a fan of the HBO special and had recorded it on VHS (many of the songs were already on that show). I got to meet Jack Black briefly when we took an elevator ride together in that label’s corporate building. He even managed to make that elevator ride memorable because he is such a fun character. I remember that it was just us two inside of the elevator, and for the entire elevator ride, he was pretending to trying use all of his arm strength to open the elevator doors, as if we were trapped inside. He is seriously a big kid. Haha.

It took a while for Tenacious D to grow on me, but eventually I understood the brilliance. There is absolutely no denying the talent here, and while this may not be the greatest, it's one seriously kick ass song. Not to mention one of the best videos ever made.

Fun bit of trivia. Jack Black's mother, Judith Love Cohen was amazing. She worked for NASA and was one of the people that helped create the Abort-Guidance System that rescued Apollo 13. She went into labor while working on the problem and took a printout of the problem to the hospital. There she solved the problem then gave birth.

Tenacious D are great. You should add their movie Pick of Destiny to your movie reaction channel. More from Tenacious D on the music side to check out though would be Wonderboy, Master Exploder, and The Metal.

I’m 43 years old and just found out TODAY after watching this video that Tenacious D is not a rapper, as I have believed all these years. My friend of 40 years laughed her ass off when I shared that realization. I have been living a lie! Note: I never actually ever heard a song by Tenacious D, hence my confusion.

(6am) Me- showering quietly Husband- wakes up, checks phone, gets the notification for this video, hits it! Me- hears TRIBUTE playing in bedroom (silently freaks out) and hurries to get out and watch your reaction!! Husband- knows every word and starts singing/yelling it as loud as he can! *NEIGHBORS??
