WOW man thanks a lot, I'm a beginner swimmer, I started swimming for Cardio but I noticed I was doing the wrong technique, I would get really tired without going very far. I really appreciate the videos and I like it that you put science behind it. I am going to go to the pool today and apply these techniques and see how more efficient my swimming becomes.

Thank you Robb for all the inf about how to swim. I'm 44 and I've taking classes for about a year. I don't really can swim yet. My dream is to be able to swim without strolling. Once I can manage better my swimming stile I'm sure I won't need any ofher kind of exercise. Thank you again. I will put in practice all your technic. ;-)

Thanks for your reply. I tried the "ketchup" drill today without a pool buoy for I am swimming in open water. I kept forgetting the pull through. Also another issue I had was keeping my course straight. I was always deviating from one side.

Robb: Thanks for these 4 part swimming 101 instructional videos!!! I am training for my first "sprint" triathlon in a few months. I was having a very difficult time breathing and decided to watch your videos. I now have discovered why breathing was soo difficult! I had the technique all wrong!!! Thanks again!!!!

Thanks Robb! I'm training for my second sprint tri and I have had lots of trouble getting tall and keeping my head in the water. I like the scientific approach you're taking here.

Vankook-take a tennis ball and place it under your chin and swim a few lengths of the pool. This will tie together your nose and your belly button and help you keep tall in the water. Also try implementing the catch-up drill with the tennis ball under your chin. This will tie it all together for you. Please keep me posted. -Coach Robb

The cause is your need for oxygen - this in turn drives you to raise your head to breathe verses rotating to breath (a common issue). To help reduce the panic mode, swim two lengths of the pool with a pull buoy in between your thighs and then swim two lengths without the pull buoy and see if you are more consistent and comfortable. Please give this a try and let me know how you do. -Coach Robb

Sounds like you are letting out your air a little too quickly - this leads to that feeling of desperation. See if you can slow down your exhalation and see if the "panic" is reduced. If you can, capture a video of yourself swimming and I would be happy to look at and provide you some specific feedback. Thanks for watching the video! -Coach Robb

Hey coach. I'm going to apply your technique. But I have aa Q's on first part of the series when I try to stand Tall in the pool I can do it for the first lap but the second lap I started getting panic how do i reduce that?
