Jon, you make great use of language. Even though it takes a lifetime to learn English vocabulary, you communicate clearly all the time.

Thumb up for your video. Now I have to do another pot of green onion to grow. I eat it all the time it is time to grow them to have a constant supply. In Asian cooking garlic, shallot, ginger and green onions are used all the time. Being Asian myself living in the US I finally planted one pot of each last year. I had success with ginger and some what success with shallots and failed on garlic. My mistakes were planting too deep and water too much. Those won't happen again this year.

Here in India I have never seen green onions which can multiply there roots themselves, 1 green onion on maturity will give 1 big/small onion 🌰. Also we do have seeds of onion as well.

Hi. Do you know which specific species of Allium is that? (asking as we don't have this one around here). Thanks!
@guiocm3 жыл бұрын
(not OP here) I believe it's Allium fistulosum. Frequently used in Asian cuisine. It's commonly called "welsh onion" in Europe. I think the species is widely adapted, but if your climate don't allow you to grow it, you can use young plants of common onion in the same way for cooking, they're reputed to taste quite similar, but I haven't compared the two myself

@@guiocm Thank you very much. I'm based in Eastern Europe and it seems this type grows pretty well here too. :D

Why does the soil need to have straw on top of it?
@JonJandaiLifeisEasy3 жыл бұрын
Straw or leaves keep the moisture stay longer and weed can not grow. Microorganism grow fast.
