Greenhouse Paraffin Heater Wick replacement | How to replace the Wick in a Greenhouse Paraffin Heater
A friend of mine suggested I make a video on this subject as he thought there was very few videos on YT showing how to do it.
The heaters in the video were bought from a house clearance sale- one looks to be quite new and the other one is older, has two burners one of which had no wick at all.
I'm sure there are people who are much more adept at wick replacement than me, but I hope it may help someone who has never owned a paraffin heater before or tried to replace a wick.

@@cumbrianhomestead I was toying with the idea of a paraffin heater but since my local DIY shop closed down (soon to be 20 new houses!) nowhere near to me sells the paraffin. How times have changed! I remember just going to a petrol station and filling a container from a barrel tap!

@@DigwellGreenfingers Yeh there was a local garage nearby that sold it out of a 250 litre drum ( you took your own container) cheapest I could find now is £8.75 for 4 litres 😨

I have one in my mini greenhouse - changed the wick yesterday - waste of time in a polytunnel though, might as well burn money : All the best - Steve

@@SteveRichards27 Not sure Steve, they have lots of chrysanthemum stools, bulbs etc in there some of which are through so think they're worried about them getting hot.

Hi woody we used to be allowed these on our plots which were very handy in greenhouse, then we had idiots use them to set fire so banded now 😒

Can you wind in the wick from the top, winding anticlockwise?

Hi there I tried that, but it didn't work. Winding from the bottom is the best way I could establish, but the end needs to be flat and square. Thanks for watching 👍👍

@@cumbrianhomestead you will not be disappointed and most of it can be made with scavenging bits and bobs and it pumps a fair bit of heat out for what they are 👍🏼🇬🇬
