Occasionally, if I finish my work early for the day and the concert hall isn't in use, I go to the piano to fill my day with some music. I can't quite explain the feeling of performing in this huge room. Even if I'm the only person in the room and I'm performing to myself, it feels really nerve-wracking. It takes me ten minutes afterwards to get my breathing back to normal and my heart rate down. It's as if I get the same adrenaline rush from performing to a room with a full audience, just... without the audience. This concert hall really is special. The acoustics are so rich that it is as if the piano and my voice are returning straight back to me. As if the room is responding to me. This is only the second time I've performed in this room, and hopefully not the last. 🎶
