I also realized specifically because of listening to this that Empty Town would make a seriously good Waltz. Imagine it. You and a friend or partner, standing together, slowly turning through the empty streets of a town on the edge of the world. I’ve always considered Empty Town one of, if not my favorite, tracks in the game, but I couldn’t really appreciate how truly sad it is when you think about it. It’s Ralsei’s leitmotif, and it’s literally about how lonely he is, how empty his town is, how alone he’s been for his whole life. I didn’t see that when the game first came out, just like how I couldn’t understand the tragedy of Asriel and Chara’s story when I first played Undertale. I was just too young and oblivious to understand it. Now, both of the goat princes are some of my favorite Toby Fox characters and certainly my biggest comfort characters atm.
