Check your curve, dude. I think you have a curve set of 25, if not higher. Back it off to 10-15 at the most. Then take the Tomcat up for a few test hops. Also, if you're going to be throwing the 'Cat around at high AoA, disable the Roll SAS at a minimum. Ideally you'll want both pitch and roll off in a high aoa environment, so just slap the paddle- it'll automatically disengage AP, roll SAS, and pitch SAS all at the same time. Consider it your "Shit's gettin' real" switch. P.S.- throwing 22+ G at your airframe is never, EVER a good idea. Edit- your entire test is bad, after reviewing your findings at the end of the video: A proper snap roll is NOT just a "Stomp right foot, Swing stick right, and pull". It's a balancing act that allows the pitch authority, the yaw authority, and the roll authority to compliment one another to maximize the roll rate. Simply maxing everything out to 11 will just result in a massive over-alpha situation if the plane has too much pitch authority in relation to the other two forces: Case in point- the F-14. It's tailerons have a bigger wing area than an entire A-4 Skyhawk. They are also responsible for roll, assisted by spoilers on the wings. That the rudder could not keep it in line is hardly a surprise. In the F-5, it's the same story, as with all the other old school jets in there. Side note about the F-5: There is no "roll restrictor". The F-5 has a region of stick travel that just happens to be a bit more stiff as you get to maximum travel. Using the roll switch means you are allowing that stick to move to the max of allowable stick travel, not giving it a bonus. But, in your test, it really wouldn't have mattered anyway, as the pitch authority on the F-5 greatly outweighs the other two forces. It would just be a similar, if less excessive, experience. The FBW jets and those with simpler flight models kept you alive. The more authentic flight models killed you dead. Relax on the stick when dealing with the F-14 and other aircraft, and it'll go a LOT better.

@Wool Verigne Agreed , missile truck, if you get in a dog fight with it you've done something wrong! Wasn't designed to dogfight, it rolls better at 350knts, its best corner speed.

The TomCat was not designed to pull the kind of snap roll you were attempting,.. it can however pull a, aleron/rudder roll,... The reason being in the such large area of the fusalog (please excuse spelling,) and the wings.

I think that part of the problem is the main wings blocking the airflow over the tail control panels and in extreme cases as in f14 its also stalling the airflow over the top of the wing

I suspect that the Su-33 is down to the canard. I've been amazed that flying the Su -27 for a week now (not as much as I would like) just how much you can throw the thing around even without disconnecting the FCS. Next week I want to try landing on a runway wheels up (on the engine pods - which is supposedly entirely possible with little or no damage). Btw I've been trying to follow the Training runs - am I the only one to find some of them uselessly difficult? Particularly flying the damn thing through the Navigation "squares" some of which seem to have been placed in ridiculous positions in relation to others..... Best, Pete.

The DCS aerodynamics are shitty. That Tomcat and F5 is the best example. None of them have flybywire or flight envelope protection and still unable to stall properly.
