I love your videos! Such great information and superbly crafted--your editing skills are really great. I look forward to each weekly installment of your adventures, but this week was particularly delightful. I am fascinated by Guanajuato and your video did not disappoint. I've probably watch every video on KZfaq about the city, and yours is hands down the very best. It's not even close. What makes your videos stand out is your willingness to explore beyond the greatest hits of a town, the well-worn things that tourists are usually directed to do. I loved that you include footage of the getting lost in the byzantine maze of alleys in the city--what fun! I'm looking forward to your take on San Miguel de Allende, which is often characterized as the rich, upscale version of Guanajuato, and home to a huge North American immigrant community. Keep up the great work!

Derrick, I cant tell you how much I appreciate your comment and generous thanks! I sometimes get discouraged that my viewership isn’t that high, but a lovey comment like this is what keeps me going! To know someone enjoys the videos I make is truly heartwarming and makes it worth all the hard work I put into them. Guanajuato is unbelievably beautiful and I may just be as obsessed as you are with it! You are the first to hit the Thanks button, and it made my day, if not my year! Thank you so much for it and for taking the time to write such a nice, detailed comment! San Miguel is next (sneak preview: not my favorite place, too touristy and too “gringofied”, but it is beautiful!) Again, a million thanks to you sir! 😀

One of the best vids I've seen on the marvelous Guanajuato. So much variation, you hit upon all the great touch points. I lived in GTO several years ago for a few months and it was, indeed, like living in a movie. So gorgeous, those winding callejones great fun, good exercise, good food and coffee, great people. Thank you again! I'm a new subscriber. Look forward to your other vids. :)

Thanks for this video. Very informative and fun. I'm headed to Guanajuato City in March to look for a place to retire to. My income won't cut it in the States. Question, friends have told me that the downtown area is pretty flat. I have some balance issues, addressed with ankle supports and a handy trekking stick. Also have a pup. Did it seem doable for someone older? Gracias Mucha El Senor Gringo, Interrupted!
@GringoInterrupted7 ай бұрын
Yes, most of the downtown is flat, but you may encounter some inclines here and there. I think this will depend on where you find a home, how far up the hill and if it there are any steps, but I think its doable. Are you considering other cities in Mexico also?
@NancyJMartin7 ай бұрын
@@GringoInterrupted I did. Took a trip last August to Tlaquepaque and then up to Baja Sur. No idea what I was thinking as I detest intense heat. Got Salmonella in Tlaquepaque, and thanks to the hotel who got a Doctor to come to me and went and got meds I am still here to talk about it. Seriously ill. Anyway, most places I visited were inundated with Digital Nomads and Very Rich retirees, they have driven up the cost of living tremendously and it is hurting the locals badly. For unknown reasons, Guanajuato City is off their radar, unlike San Miguel de Allende. I don't want to live large. If you have suggestions by all means let me know. I will go to SMA to see it, but I think it is out of the realm of possibility, and any desire for that scene for me. Also, the infrastructure looks better in Guanajuato City. Looking for a more traditional Mexican City, and a diverse expat group. Thanks very much for getting back!
@GringoInterrupted7 ай бұрын
@NancyJMartin Oh no, sorry to hear about the Salmonella! That’s terrible! I agree about San Miguel and other “expat” heavy towns. So, I think Guanajuato is a great fit. Out of all the cities I would consider retiring to, Guanajuato and Morelia top my list. Morelia is sooo underrated. Pátzcuaro is cool also, but kind of sleepy. Heading to Oaxaca and Chiapas for the first time next month. Have a great trip and I wish you the best of luck! Keep me posted on your thoughts on Guanajuato! And thanks for watching!

If all you are looking for is a place where you income will suffice, you will not last in Mexico, start looking in Mississipi, Tennessee, Sout Dakota or the like at least you are in you own culture and country.

How would you recommend getting here from CDMX? If by bus, is it safe? Thx for a great video.
@GringoInterrupted7 ай бұрын
Yes, by bus and its perfectly safe. I would take a first class bus, like ETN. They leave from “autobuses del norte” station (there are multiple bus stations in CDMX). Remember, the bus station in Guanajuato is a little outside the city so you can take a shuttle to centro or grab an Uber. Enjoy!
@GringoInterrupted7 ай бұрын
You can just show up at the bus station in CDMX and purchase ticket there. The website usually doesn’t take U.S.-based credit cards, but they will work at the station. You could also use BusBud.com
@GringoInterrupted7 ай бұрын
You can check departure times at ETN: etn.com.mx/english/. Remember your origin is “Mexico Norte” in CDMX.
