Me, my mom, and my two sisters all share a storage building. So if we have pieces that we still love but can't use them in a specific space at the moment, we just put it in the storage building. We all exchange furniture and decor constantly and call it "musical furniture" lol

I was going to suggest exactly that: one thing is to want the lights on and another is to want to have the routine of turning the lights on and off. For the first option, the timer!!

I love it! We did the same thing. We just moved into a new build 3 weeks ago and bought new bedroom furniture for mine and my husband's room and put our old set in the guest bedroom. I guess you didn't keep the furry comforter from your old house. I like this one - I have a similar comforter but in white. It’s looking sooooo nice. My only suggestion would be to find artwork that incorporates the Taupe color of the bed headboard/footboard as well as the grays and whites of the room. Or perhaps a throw blanket that pulls that color in. The bed color is beautiful and would be perfect with a few other things that tie it in.

Looks great so far and I can't wait to see part 2. For the too short curtains, if you didn't want to rehang the rod higher later, you could hang it high and buy long white sheer curtains to put behind the short curtains so no one can tell they're too short. I hate having to patch holes and drill new ones, so that's a hack I've used before.
