I think farmed Salmon is way more toxic than canned Tuna. Most Salmon comes from China, and it's hard to tell the origin. Both canned and Salmon fillets.

Fish Farms in China raise the fish in highly polluted water. For China, there is no longer any sizeable stream or river or pumped ground water that isn't polluted. Polluted water irrigates the crops used to create food for the fish farms, thus serving to add more pollutants to the fish.

I love Tuna ! I'm not picky about them, but I prefer it in water. Solid Yellow Fin in EVirgin oil is a special treat. You can put tuna into almost any recipe.

Hi, Les! THANKS for covering this canned meat. I was at a market earlier today to buy tuna for myself and my sister. My sister likes solid white albacore in water, market-brand. I can eat that in a tuna salad or tuna pasta salad where I add mayo, salt, pepper, celery seeds, onion & garlic powder, with or without fresh onions or fresh celery. Gussied up. I like the firmer texture of albacore - compared to that of chunk light tuna. Chunk light tuna ... I'll have in those vacuum packets that are seasoned with various seasoning like cracked pepper or Thai-spiced when I don't feel like "proper cooking." I'll have one with a ramen noodle packet or with cooked packet rice. Minimal effort. Not my best, but edible. The texture is mushy. Feels like I'm slumming and stealing from a cat.Not that the cats are complaining cause they have better choices. Yes, it's a pantry option, but there arebetter options. Tuna islike the spam of canned seafood. Unless we're talking premium tunas. If you expand this study to include different brands, I'll pull up a stool and happily chatter away. Just warning you, lol. Thanks for posting this video! Tuna is so commonly eaten I think people take it for granted. It was nice to see the comparisons. I definitely want to try that Yellowfin in olive oil!

As much as I hate Walmart they have a Solid White Tuna that is pretty good for 1.44 a can in water. Of the few Starkist I found many types more mushy

While the review is quite good, it is important to understand when, (not if) SHTF salt, fat, protein will be at a premium. So if you're buying for and extended pantry this is spot on advice. However, if you're stocking long term with SHTF in mind the salt, fat, soy oil, etc. is of no consequence as we will need to survive the times when they come.

I rather have lemon pepper tuna but that don’t come in cans. Only pouches. Also do you think tuna in water last longer or tuna in oil ?

I think Starkist has a Lemon Dill in EVOO, you might like. I don't think there would be any difference in the shelf life if stored properly. The "Best By" dates don't seem to vary any based on water or oil. Hope that helps and thank you for watching.

The only thing I've noticed over the years is anything with tuna in it, I end up adding hot sauce. It seems to cover up any wrongs.

I wonder how these tunas compare with sushi grade tuna. If there is much of a taste difference. I like both canned and sushi grade tuna. So i was just curious.

Sorry, but I don't know. My tuna consumption is limited to canned tuna. When I get sushi, I get salmon.

I'm more of a fan of chicken of the sea. Starkiss never looks or tastes that good to me. My go to is chicken of the seas albacore it tastes like chicken to me. I have noticed all the companies are very inconsistent one time i buy it will taste completely different then the next time.

I love tuna. It does look like dog food though. lol I get the kind in the pouch because the serving size is smaller. I can't eat a whole can on a salad, it's too much. I stopped getting the Albacore long ago due to Mercury, and am careful to only have any type of fish 2 x per week or less. I don't eat fish every week by any means, so if I have it 3 x in a week, it's not hurting me much. Mercury isn't the only concern these days though, sadly, PFAS and many other forever chemicals are in all the fish these days and also microplastics. I'd have fish 5x a week if that weren't the case but here we are. We've trashed the world and now can't eat the food it created for us. I'm careful not to eat too much of any one thing so variety is pretty important these days.
