Please check out the signature brand pink salmon. It can be found in most Safeways, it has high amounts of vitamin d, and includes the skin and the bones. It is high quality and great tasting. It's about $5 a can and I stock up on many cans at a time. Since it's cooked in the can it can be eaten straight, used in a salmon-salad sandwich, served over rice, or can be reheated if needed for a recipe

I use glass jars, some of which used to hold coffee. But all have seals on them. Some are killner jars.

Provided the tin is sound they should be ok to consume. However not if the tin is rusty and has degraded. In 1900 tins were used in the boer war in southafrika. By british troups, a few years ago they found some from this perioud, opened it up had it checked it wos found the contents could be consumed, and some was consumed they were over 100 years old.

A lot of canned seafood is from China. Will not buy. Rarely find a can of Oysters not from there. Occasionally you can find Kipper snacks at Dollar tree.

I'm diabetic & must eat. Last fall I found myself without electricity so I couldn't cook anything. The only thing I had to eat was a can of baked beans.... lesson learned.

And fyi, "Ramen" has several ingredients that were lab tested & proven to be carcinogenic.

I get Kirkland chicken at Costco all the time at 12.99 / 6pack, so it is 2.16/can instead of 2.5/can, which brings the pounds of chicken meat per $100 to 20.71, which is the best value according to your chart. The same Kirkland chicken costs a lot more at Amazon or Ebay. I am ignoring membership fee since you get some bonus check at the end of the year. Very good job you did on the test and chart.

Chef, have you tried line and pole caught tuna? Not “budget” but delicious.

Stay away from this product as it's highly inflammatory. If you value your health, find something else.

Chunk tuna uses smaller tuna meaning way less mercury. So stay away from yellowfin/tail and albacore.

They maybe added turmeric in the newer one.

If you don't have a cooler, you can use your washing machine. Fill it with ice, it keeps things cold for a long time.
