I strongly recommend listening to more tracks from the Live In Chicago show. The recording quality is so great, and Ween songs take on such a different character when they're done live. The older recordings were very rough, it was the two of them only with a 4-track backing them. It's amazing to hear the live versions and go back to what they came from, realizing it's the same song at it's core, but just so much more fleshed out and full with the whole band backing them.

He is a secret monster of a guitarist. I got into them decades ago and saw past the goof to the pure talent they have. What’s great is he finds a pocket and goes for it. Eric Clapton once said something to this effect on soloing, “It doesn’t matter if its not right, if it sounded good once, play it over and over again”! Another one from Eric Clapton was like, “If you mess up but repeat it, no one will think it was a mess up”. Hahahahahahahahaha so true

Deaner plays a wide variety of styles in his guitar work outs. Of course there’s heavy rock: Johnny on the Spot has the most wailing, breakneck improvised solo, Dr. Rock is supreme hard-rock majesty, Stroker Ace and It’s Gonna Be a Long Night (Motörhead rip) are rippers. Gabrielle is a rave-up Thin Lizzy rip-off. Epic progrock replete w scripted solos: Buckingham Green, The Golden Eel. Latin/Caribbean mock-rock- Voodoo Lady, Bananas and Blow (Buffet slag). Groovy up-tempo folk rock- Chocolate Town all have great scripted solos. Then there’s the pure weirdness of The Grobe, Happy Colored Marbles, Polka Dot Tail, etc. So many more but these are some of his signature concert moments.

Michael Palmisano Don’t neglect Eddie Hazel’s other amazing contributions to PFunk too!!! Maggot Brain is always talked about when he comes up and has been analyzed and gushed over endlessly by youtubers such as yourself, but I genuinely urge you to look into other Eddie songs like his INSANE rhythm guitar work (and the solo too) in The Goose by Parliament. It’s quieter and more understated but soooo smooth and beautiful and funky. Or his searing slide guitar solo in Vampy Funky Bernie from the Toys compilation. Or his cover of I Want You (She’s So Heavy) on Eddie’s solo album. That being said if you just do Maggot Brain that would still be pretty neat I suppose.
