Guitar tutor reacts to the isolated guitar track in Judas Priest's epic 1990 track Painkiller. As a guitar player I give my insight as to what makes this great; the pinch harmonics, tone, EQ-ing mixing and amazing lead playing to a name but a few factors. Following this informal analysis we look at some of these technique and ideas in action! Mainly Glenn Tipton's harmonic picking attack and how EQ can help tones sit or pop in a mix.
