In this video, I take on Axl Rose/Guns N' Roses' PARADISE CITY! What a Rockin' tune! Let me know how you think I did!

While many esteem this song as difficult to sing from a vocal range standpoint (and it certainly is to some degree), one of the most difficult things for me was how many lyrics were involved, particularly in the verses (kind of like rap singing, similar to "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith).
And not to be disrespectful, but I never knew what the heck Axl was actually saying, until I sang this song and it started to make sense (ha ha)!
So I challenge you to try this, and even speak it as fast as Axl sang it!

Many many 80s bands made the mistake of writing vocals that were at the top of their range when they were in their 20s. This practice does not lend to longevity.

Awesome Guns N' Roses cover. I love the way you sing the long, high notes in this song. The Axl Rose vocals are very hard to sing and pull off, especially the verses in the song. You did a great job. Your cover is better than the original.👏👏🤘🤘🎸🎸

@@RhiannonBell252 it was a great concert, they played most of their standards. It was the skin and bones tour, and I saw them in Jalisco stadium. It rains very often there aaaaand... It started raining shortly after Axl started playing the intro to November rain. I remember he just smiled... And all the people who sneaked their way into the field got soaking wet lol I also saw them a couple of years ago, Axl's still had range though his tone had deteriorated quite a bit. in all the KZfaq footage it seems that he has spotty access to it now, some of the recent stuff sound like he did a couple of years back while some sounds like he only has the mids and lows left. My personal guess is that he demands way too much, and that he used bad technique for a long time. Not to mention that when he was overweight he might have less access to his support and hence strained himself and we see that now. A good long term discussion of this would be a pretty interesting video.

I played music in my youth for eight years. I was a drummer and singer in a small local band in Quebec City, Canada. Francophone by birth, I sang in English with a horrible accent 😅. At the time, I would have loved to have had the advice of someone like you to learn to sing well and make the most of the voice that God had given me.

Most singers in rock, pop, hip hop - whatever the art form actually is anymore - don't want to put in the work to really learn technique. So those that do so stand out as just simply better. That's why Ken's singers on here are so good. They have chops better than 90% of vocalists who get famous.

Great rendition! I grew up in L.A. back in the late 70's, early 80's. I remember attending a "metal" show in West L.A.back in '84. I witnessed a young "Bill" Rose, (before adopting the Axl name); Izzy; Chris Weber; and Johnny Kreis perform as the band "Hollywood Rose." I remember thinking at the time how in the world "Bill" could sing the way he did and not inflict irreparable trauma to his vocal cords. Fast forward a few years, circa early-90's and you could already tell that "Axl's" voice had been irreparably damaged. Such an amazingly talented guy; just wish he had managed his vocals better over the years.

I cannot help but salute how much work goes into reaching the standard where 5:32 of maximum quality output looks so effortless, Again Ken you knocked it out of the park, and to be honest, Axel Rose set a pretty high bar to be begin with. Chapeau!

Ken you should do videos to show how sadly Axle and others can't consistently sing like this anymore. He's not the only one sadly and you can use it as a teaching lesson about continuing to work out your voice.

You are awesome. Did you happen to know the late David Kyle? He was a phenomenal voice teach who I was fortunate enough to take lessons from. Marvelous absolutely marvelous he would say. I took lesson at the Same time Heart did. So many artists received lessons from him and landed our pictures on the wall of the great David Maestro.
