It has been a littleeee while! I filmed this almost a month ago and am finally finished editing and posting ah. It's been a busy season! But anyway, here are some products that I've been loving lately to take care of my hair and skin!

I tried washing my hair after every session, and my scull haaaated it..😂 So, i have to be gross and wash my hair twice a week, no matter how often I train..

Nails are definitely a commitment. I just do regular polish and use cuticle oil to keep my nails malleable. My polish application lasts at max, 3-4 days and then chips after, usually from training. Doing my own nails is really important to me as well as my polish collection. Keeps me from falling back into my skin picking tick that I developed in quarantine.

I ended up getting a haircut (not an undercut, just shorter hair) because it was so destroyed from Jiu Jitsu. It was always easily broken and thin so, oh well. I try to be nice to it but some things are genetic. I hope you're going to do a video re-capping the alchemize grappling camp! I am in no position to attend anything like that any time soon, but I would love to hear about it!

Totally! I hope the shorter hair is working better for you 😅😅 I actually didn’t vlog this weekend, it was so crazy and busy working it! Our videographer worked 3 days straight capturing the camp, so be on the look out on our social ! :)

I find shellac nails stay on just fine for around 2-3 weeks. Once they grow out and there's a gap, that's the danger zone... I usually go one month on, one month off with gels to let them recover- If I go longer with them on, then the natural nails split and crack and need longer to recover. For so long I thought I would have to resign myself to short nails that make my hands look chubby (lol) but then at a seminar, the queen Ffion Davies herself had OMBRE EXTENTIONS.... by no means claws, but definitely nice, shaped nails, and this was a week out from ADCC. from that day forth I said if Ffion doesn't have to give up nice nails, then neither do I! And neither do you! Just keep them clean and round I guess is the only thing to avoid scratches/ infections

So about the nails thing - I notice that my own hand and nails really don't get that beat up from training, and I only just now thought about why. I think it's the same reason I don't usually deal with cauliflower ear, in that I just avoid playing in ways that put my body at risk for those things. I've had to drain my ears a couple times, but separately, and from incidentals, not regular damage, because after the first time, I just resolved to use my forehead and temple area for wrestling, rather than the side of my head. In the same way, I don't often grab the gi for grips. I heard one of Rickson's black belts say something to the degree of "your game shouldn't be different depending on gi or nogi" - so I rarely grab for grips on the gi, and my fingers never hurt or get all torn up. Purple belt here, for qualification purposes. Also, I'm gonna share this with my friends who were so impressed with your hair. They came down and tried my intro class, but I think they got scared for the reasons you've said 😆

I don’t have long hair but I have heard French braids are the best. Having short hair I have never had any issues with my hair and bjj. I actually think my nails look good lol they are short and no polish but I think that’s better cause think of all the chemicals in nail polish anyway!

Yeah french braids are definitely good, especially dutch braids! They're just hard to do on myself lol. Haha yes that is true. I do like to always keep my toes done, just personal preference :)

@@kimberlykinch I usually paint my toe nails too lol it’s just fun plus people at BJJ are always complimenting my colors haha they stay on really long compared to polish on nails.

I have been training for over a year and all of a sudden my face is breaking out and this has never happened since high school. I am so confused and don’t know what to do because I always wash and moisturizer my face night and morning with good products.

Oh noo, break outs are so frustrating ☹️ Are they along the chin/jaw line area? Or another area of your skin? There are soo many factors unfortunately that can lead to breakouts popping up 😕 Do you exfoliate?
@marystein8335
@marystein8335 7 ай бұрын
@@kimberlykinchit’s kind of just all over. Along the side of my nose and strangely right under my eye. I just use a face wash and moisturizer. I didn’t think about using an exfoliate. Do you use a toner before exfoliating?
@kimberlykinch
@kimberlykinch 7 ай бұрын
Exfoliating is really helpful and important - It'll help get rid of dead skin, help with clogged pores and improve skin texture! My favorite is from Paula's Choice, the BHA. I don't typically use a toner, but I exfoliate twice a week after cleansing and then go in with my serums and moisturizers. @@marystein8335

@@kimberlykinch thank you! I ordered some of that! I’ve used Paul’s Choice moisturizer before and like it.

Antibacterial items that are gentle are often excellent for issues like that. Hypochlorous acid and msm powder topically (it is basically sulfur based). Also, you could try using a neon or argon wand which sanitizes the skin as it generates oxygen, which obviously deters breakouts. Personally the msm powder is stellar. It worked much better and was far gentler on my skin than my topical antibacterial prescription.

Oh and I'm 36 and also have long hair, and it's perpetually broken. Luckily I get "soccer hair" and it get so sweaty that it kind protects itself. It's also a great punishment for anyone who wants to be discourteous during a roll. Grab one single finger? Ezekiel attempt from MY guard? Cool, guess I'll just get on top and direct this into your mouth. Some people have to learn the hard way. 🤣🤢 *I would never do this to white belts, for the record. Blue or above - a wizard should know better.
