@@davidfnaranjo I am not suggesting skipping the doctor's consultation. But you shouldn't forget that doctors are also people with different biases + they run businesses that need to survive. I learned it on my own skin. The quality of hair transplant clinics worldwide ranges from 2/10 - 10/10. Many people still assume that a certified doctor employed in an official clinic = great hair transplant result guaranteed because they must know what they do. But this is not true, unfortunately. That is why I offer my help.

@@letsgethair you need to show the real status of your hair without good lighting and comb over. How are we going to know of all your suggestions are true. FUE dont survive (maybe few) FUT is better because the root/fat or whatever you want to call it are still intact and disect properly, without ruining it. Downfall is the scar but there's camouflaging and maybe let the hair grow and cover it.

One change I'd might do if I was him would be to try a hair system while keeping the transplanted hairline VISIBLE. This in theory should blend the hair system into a much more natural state along the front.

This person reminds me of myself. There are many lessons here, most of which you covered. In addition to needing meds if you do not get sufficient density it is a total waste. That was the what happened with his crown area. The lack of density coupled with aggressive hair loss meant all of those grafts were essentially thrown in the dumpster. In addition getting a dense hairline with insufficient hair behind it is worse than being bald. Ironically at this point his best bet might be to NOT take any hair loss meds and let the unnatural hair transplanted hair miniaturize til it's gone then have a natural bald look. There is some potential for a body hair transplant if he goes back to wanting one but that never matches the quality of head donor hair as the source. I made all the same mistakes. I too tried a hair system for a while but instead accepted my baldness for many years. Only recently did I successfully restore my hair though it will probably always be a work in progress. I regularly take Finasteride and Oral Minoxidil now too.

Yeah well said for people who are going to have surgery DON'T get surgery until you own meds for at least a year - Fin..Minox..After one year you will have a good baseline for IF you need surgery and the Dr. will be able to tell you what they can realistic do with surgeries. Please remember that this is for life so if your young I would be very careful to try and keep your hairline as when your in your 20's understanding it won't look natural when your in your 50's
@gerylagrande
@gerylagrande 2 жыл бұрын
One question: wouldnt it be best to get a very dense natural looking transplant for the front hairline and a hairsystem for the crown area? So it looks natural in the front and you cant see the transition from transplanted natural hair to the hairsystem🤔

I had a FUE of around 1500 grafts three years ago and I've never taken Finasteride (I only take minoxidil 5% once a day topical). @John Smith little advice for you : just take 0,5mg of finasteride per day ! 0,5mg is already very effective and it will limit your risk of side effects. I do take only 0,5mg per day and i'm even off on Sunday. Which means 0,5mg 6 days a week is more than enough. You save money this way and you won't get a single side effect for sure. The funny part is that finasteride actually increased my libido ! Lol

The fear mongering about finasteride on the internet is absolutely huge... I myself waited 5 years before starting finasteride cause I was scared... (I started finasteride at Norwood 3...) He said finasteride only slowed his hair loss and after four years he just shaved his head because it looked ridiculous. He also said that finasteride has side effects that can be nasty. Young men tend to overthink about finasteride... and I think that's pretty sad and such a waste of time ! (I know I was was of them) I waited 10 years before taking finasteride for the first time... 10 years just wasting my time worrying for literally nothing and going from Norwood 1 to Norwood 3 in 10 years... I started finasteride at Norwood 3 and fortunately for me : my hairloss was not that aggressive. But some other young men are less lucky than me and got super aggressive hairloss and 10 years of being worried for them is a disaster (lost too much ground when they start finasteride). Ps : finasteride is awesome, great results and no side effects at all. I take 0,5mg per day (and I'm off on Sunday) So 6 days a week at 0,5mg . I think the fear mongering about this medicine should stop.

I was one of the few unlucky people with Fin. I took it for 5 years, it was amazing for my hair. I don’t really regret taking it at the time because at that age I just couldn’t handle hairloss (25).. it helped to just put my mind back at ease. But after about 3 years I started to notice side effects, at first I blamed other things. But decided to take a break from the drug and the side effects went away in two weeks but my hair loss came back eventually so panicked again and tried going back to Fin but only a pill every other day. But my side effects just got even worse than the first time I was on Fin. I had to stop Fin because I realized that my general health is much more important than hair. But I tried Minoxidil after that but I was allergic to it haha 😆…. And so I was left with zero treatment options. Dermaroller doesn’t do much on it’s own… I’m just waiting for some new treatments that are safer for me personally. But my point is that I understand people who don’t take Fin, or have but had to stop. If you’re lucky you can take Fin all your life and be fine and it saves your hair. But like with any drug, some people experience side effects. The scary thing was that when I finally quit Fin the second time it took a few years to recover not just two weeks. But this was just my personal experience. We often tend to think everyone else will have the same experience, so if it’s safe for you it’s safe for everyone or if it’s unsafe for you it’s unsafe for everyone. But that’s not how it works. It’s individual. People react to coffee differently too

I am on month 4 after my hair transplant (1st Nov) and also been ok finasteride since the transplant. I had around 2700 grafts for the front area. Hair growth looks good, but curly and thin at the moment but I think that's to be expected. With regards to the side effects from finasteride. I too wasn't able to sleep properly, there were nights were I would wake up in the middle of the night with palpitations, and some nights just not able to sleep at all. However I kept persisting and continued to take fin (and also changed from 2.5mg every 2 days to 1.25 everyday by quartering a 5mg pill)... And eventually I was able to sleep ok. So I think it may be to do with the fact that the body is getting used to it? ... Or maybe placebo/anxiety. One other side effect that is getting really annoying is that I'm developing acne spots on my face, top/back of my head and some on my chest. Everyday I get a new spot.
