My situation was fine just receding hairline from the birth.. same as my dad... so is my brothers.. we just have big foreheads thats it no balding.. so in this case you dont need fin.. you just need minxdil to keep the grwoth.

This danger was fully explained to me by my surgeon (Dr. Rosanelli in San Francisco • USA) - you don't just zero-in to the bald spot but overall, accounting for future loss. So even though we were conservative in our approach, he's an artisan and left me happy even five years later!

Hi i am 19 years old and my hairline is still alright, but I can see it slowly starting to receed in the tempels and in front, I am tempted to start using finasteride in a very minimal dosage, is this a good time to start medication, or do you recommend something else? Thank you!
@flyingmonkeys96
@flyingmonkeys96 2 жыл бұрын
the earlier you start, the better you will be esp if you catch it this early. get on fin first and then maybe add minoxidil if, for some reason, your hair loss gets worse. fin can be started at low doses (.5 mg a day for example) or 3-4 times a week at the standard 1 mg dose. I would just start at the standard dose ( 1 mg every day) and if you notice side effects, lower the dosage or frequency
@eternalnate
@eternalnate 2 жыл бұрын
My suggestion is not to start using fin or minoxidil unless you talk to a doctor first. Chances are your hairline is probably fine. I wouldn't even consider doing either until your mid twenties or if you can see rapid loss occurring. Once you start either medication you will have to use them for the rest of your life until you feel fine with going bald.

Hi, could you do a video discussing the safety of topical finasteride to others? I.e. not to the person taking it but to his partner or to his kids. I.e. if a guy takes a very low dose of topical finasteride, what is the risk of that to women and kids? Because I keep thinking how we all touch our hair subconsciously and therefore finasteride may get on out hands. And also it can rub off on bedding and furniture. This is now the main thing stopping me from taking it.

whether it is a good or a bad idea depends solely on your personal situation. it depends on how old you are where your hair loss stops and how many grafts you have. i for example am 33 years old my hair loss at the crown is already pretty advanced but my hairline is still in good shape and my doctor said that you can take about 8000 grafts without screwing up my donor. when i asked him if he would recommend finasteride he clearly said NO as long as i am in for a second and maybe a third session in a few years.

You can read about this drug online. You will find out all the types of side effects that are POSSIBLE but it doesn't mean they are HIGHLY PROBABLE. I found that one can do as much research as he wants on this thing but unless you have tried it you don't know your body's response. Docs still prescribe it 20+ yrs later since the approval so the safety profile can't be so horrendous, can it? I do like micro-dosing for myself though. That's actually a good question ! I personally started finasteride 3 month after my HT (I was already on minoxidil for 10 years by the way) . Minoxidil alone kept my hair for about 7 years then it started to get weak so I had to go for a small 1200 grafts HT + finasteride 4 months after the HT. Finasteride + minoxidil together made me have insane regrowth and the small HT worked out pretty well. I have a very thick NW2 today, very satisfied !

My forelock has great density but my temples are recessed. The sides of my head have always been a thinner area so I am planning on eventually getting a transplant to match the density of the sides to create a diffused looking juvenile hairline. What I've found is you can expect 80% of transplanted hairs to survive. 50 grafts per cm would equate to a 37 grafts surviving. And with that in mind, I would have a lower density of hairs on the frontal hairline only rounding out to where the forelock is without having the hairline lowered. Since a lower density doesn't bother me, I'd use 700 grafts for rounding out both temples, a thousand for the reinforcing the forelock, and 600 to bulk up crown and midscalp. However I plan on getting a bilateral orchiectomy first to remove the main reason for miniaturisation in the first place.

l have heared from a lot of doctors that 1) finasteride is not pernament which means that after 3-4 year or maybe 5 it deosnt work anymore, 2) even transplanted hairs starts falling after years later so its not pernament so whats the point of hair stransplant then? you want hair for 5-6 year and thats it? l have seen ppl on finasteride for 20 years and still wokrs but thats extremely lucky and if your going full bald then your screwed, you must be lucky to 1) not go full ball so you need genes 2) your very lucky with finasteride to last many years so l just avoid transplant until they come up with the cure(hope they do)

This is an approach that almost no one considers taking and something I've mused on over the years. Who's to say you can't run a low dose of fin waaaay before you even notice hairloss? Yet, no one mentions this as an approach. We're taught "Start when you notice it!". Noticing it is too late.
