I think bleaching your hair yourself without a minimum of knowledge of how these things work is a little stupid. I understand that having it done professionally costs a lot but if you don't have the money to do this in a hair salon, you probably won't have the money to care for your hair afterwards soooooo yeah idk 😐

7:30 Okay, so my aunt who told me she was a "hairstylist" decided she wanted to try to get the bright red (I'm talking, brighter than Ariel The Little Mermaid's hair) out on her own by bleaching it. We bleached it once, I got a REALLY pretty peachy color. We bleached it twice the same night. Same color. SHE BLEACHED IT AGAIN THE SAME NIGHT. I was crying because it hurt SO BAD. Then, she decided to try an ashy blonde the next day to cover the peach and get me back to my original color, which is dirty blonde. It turned my hair grey. GREY. I was 15 and that was NOT chill with me, so I cried some more and my mom went out to the store and bought some auburn hair dye that covered greying hair and we risked my hair again to see if we could get it to a NORMAL color. My hair was very very dark brown, but I didn't even care anymore. I was just so happy to finally have normal hair again that wasn't grey. That being said, my hair is STILL recovering from this and my using a different kind of red dye for two years. I've been dying my hair red for six years now and I'm 20. The red dye I used the first two years had bleach in it and I had no idea. Safe to say when I found out, I switched to Runway Red. My hair is SO damaged. I don't straighten or curl it anymore. It's dry and JUST NOW started becoming a bit softer. It still falls out constantly every time I wash my hair and brush it. So if you're not a professional then, BE. CAREFUL. WITH. BLEACH. BE. CAREFUL. WITH. BLEACH. BE! CAREFUL! WITH! BLEACH!

I am SO glad KZfaq wasn't this big when I was a teen! I have done ALL of the bleach No-Nos, noodle hair, hair that took days to dry, have had to cut all my hair off but still had to wait YEARS to get back to healthy hair and on top of that, I still bloody straightened it almost daily. I miss the times before the internet hahaha
