Nice video thank you for posting. Just a quick tip if you want to make staining easier and lower the chance of overstaining/brush marks use a wad of cotton wool or similar wrapped in a cotton rag or muslin wet the cotton wool with stain not the rag then can out on waste card or anything else that's absorbent that you can discard just to get an even flow then work the stain into the wood, you can thin the stain down a little as well to make it flow a little better hope that's useful to you .

Thanks for the info, I didn't make a great fist of the staining, and in fact I cocked the next one up as well, but I will try what you have suggested for my next base, I have to fluke one right eventually 😀

It looks fantastic! I'm just starting with dioramas so I'm gathering tips & tricks and with a little luck I might end up with something usable. If I can get mine half as good as yours I'll be well pleased. I like your relaxed style of video, with subtle humour and just the right amount of talking. Also, thank you for using music that's not something to be endured with gritted teeth!

Thanks Ian, much appreciated mate. I do try to be careful with the music, i would rather just be able to here it than have it jarring away, hope you got some useful tips out of it 👍👍👍

Fantastic build Glenn 👏 enjoyable to watch i like how you brought your idea to life. Its hard to get what is in your thoughts to a board and come to life is an art form in itself. Pulled it off differently looking forward to the next update. By the way a weed eater would make clean up much easier. 🤣🤣 well if you can find it in 1/35 scale.😉

Thanks Clay, i might take that as a challenge to make a scale weed eater 👍👍👍

A nice sunbleached grassy field with some tree cover. Sounds like an ideal place for an 88. To be fair, your lack of gardening skills is quite evident here - at one point you were just pulling that grass up like it meant nothing... *nothing. Great build so far though - looking forward to seeing this one come together. I think it's going to look fantastic. Great vid.

Thanks Cygnusx, lol, there is no doubt i have no gardening skills at all, my wife can attest to that for sure! thanks for the great feedback as always mate, very much appreciated 👍👍👍

@@Vinny_Gambini Hahaha controlling the spending is difficult, I went a little bit crazy at the start and spent WAY too much money, i have more kits that i will ever build now and i still can't stop adding to the stash, but at least at a much reduced level :) Didnt feel the quake here, glad that the feared Tsunami didnt really eventuate !!!

It's good to see such a fine job on the base. Too many modelers give too little attention to the base so they can get to the fun part and it detracts from the dio. Yours is very professional. Do you use a dust cover for your dios and if so, where do you get them?
@HalidonDioramas2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anton, I couldn't agree more, I think a good base completes the display, while a bad one can really take away from the overall look, plus I like doing them so all part of the fun for me. I have some in a glass display cabinet but the others are just on shelves, but that's the other use for an airbrush blowing the dust off every so often 😃

Cracking job with that grass - really convincing. When you add a second layer, are you covering the first layer with white glue again, or is the first layer still wet? The effect is great with the tyre tracks pressed in. Good stuff.
@HalidonDioramas4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, thanks mate much appreciated. Great question and something that i forgot to include in the video although i did mean to explain it. First layer went down with white glue, when that was mostly dry i used the adhesive spray over the top of layer one to put down layer two, it seemed to work OK, i thought putting more white glue down would bugger up the first layer hence the adhesive spray approach. 👍👍👍
@andrewshaw83964 жыл бұрын
@@HalidonDioramas Thanks - that makes sense. I can confirm that brushing white glue on layer one does indeed bugger it up! (-: This has been a very timely video mate, thanks. Cheers.
