How to Build a Diorama Base

Hi guys and welcome back.
Today I start an unplanned diorama with the creation of the diorama base. It is pretty much my usual approach but hopefully contains a few hints and tips to help.

@@HalidonDioramas I'm well and very busy- I'm currently building a series of Spitfires to show how the aircraft evolved, and I've done my first commissioned build- a Seafire for a friend whose Dad flew Seafires and I've managed to give it the correct serial number. I delivered it last week and he was extremely pleased with it and now he's asked me to build a Defiant, which his Dad also flew.

I'll be trying some of these techniques today Greg cheers! I'm building the Tilly to go woth my Gecko k2y ambulance at the ATS training centre so it's my first go at a dio but have loads of product's I've been picking up over the past coup of years for them just never got around to actually doing one! My pink amd blue foam came last weekend a d 6 rolls of sheet Cork for whatever haha ot was cheap for 6 rolls so picked them up while I seen them!

Great diorama mate and yes relaxing while a sip on a triple vodka and soda by the pool in Darwin 😁 $10 bucks it’s a dio set in the Ukraine?!? 🤔

I like the look of that birch. 🤔I use balsa currently and it dents easily. Can be a bit "furry" too. I may well give that a spin mate! 😁Also the tin foil texturizer! Great idea. Very nice groundwork. Good stuff mate. Cheers. 👍

Thanks Andrew, the Birch is way better, as easy to work with but none of the down side of balsa, also it takes a stain really well which you cant get with balsa. Cheers👍👍👍

Hey Denno, that's just insulation foam from Bunnings, if you're not in Aus, Bussings is just a warehouse building supplies/hardware store, you should be able to find anywhere like that mate.

Happy Easter, Glen! Very nice base you did there and my guess is that it is somewhere in Ukraine? Something else I have to mention, I usually love all your videos but this time you've gone too far and offended my feelings. How dare you sit in your workshop in shorts and a t-shirt while I sit in the south of Germany in thick socks, long pants and a fleece jacket with the central heating blaring? 🥶

Lol, Happy Easter to you too 👍 Apologies for the offence, its not the weather, its me, I am usually in shorts most of the year round regardless, but is an advantage of living in a joint that is mostly desert 😃
