Tbh yeah! I adore Loomis's character he was such a joy to watch but like his logic leaped during that one, he thought he was evil bc of his eyes and bc he stared at walls. Like he ended up being right but at the same time, what led you to conclude that this kid was possessed by evil bc he'd stared at walls with a vacant look.

I actually like the first couple movies more because they felt a lot more grounded in reality. There were no curses, no cults, no evil spirits. Just a crazed madman with absolutely no compassion or regard for human life going on a rampage and terrorizing a small town after being kept locked up for 15 years. It felt much more real and that made it feel a lot scarier to me.

It really doesn't feel like a film from the 70s. The 80s, sure, but not the 70s. Of course, that's because tons of movies in the 80s proper were either made by Carpenter and share stylistic similarities, or they were directly inspired by this movie and his other works.

Plus, I think the whole "this slasher killed an animal" thing is supposed to make the audience really realize that even if he is supposed to be a man child that he really doesn't care about any living being. That's why I find it dumb as hell that they almost never kill children in horror movies, if they can kill a animal why not kill a child? That's why I find Child's play so fun and different becuase Chucky literally will kill ANYONE. But atleast the dog didn't actually get harmed on set like how that snake did in Friday the 13th

the man being paid 25 dollars a day to play Michael would make around 100 dollars a day in today's money. For a low budget, slasher film and playing a character with no face, personality or an any real acting required that is not a bad deal at all.

I'd disagree with "no real acting required". While other actors have done well in the role (Dick Warlock and Tyler Mane especially), nobody really managed to fully replicate Nick Castle's body language as Michael until James Jude Courtney in 2018 (who was directly coached for the part BY Castle). Really can't underestimate just how important Castle's presence was to making the character as imposing as he was, despite not being physically huge.

Same as there was more than one knife. He probably grabbed bunch and left. Which is actually wrong as judging from how he behave he should take one mask. He isn't perfectly sane criminal who choose mask to cover face to prevent cam records like PayDay gang members (yeah, I know they have fav designs, but I think it's canon they swap them). His mask has sth to do with his mental state. It's more meaningful for him than Dallas' mask for Dallas f.e. More like Rorschach's case.

In the opening, when the parents find Michael on the sidewalk in front of the house and the dad unmasks him, what bothers me the most is the stance of the mom. At least the dad looks like he might be in shock. The mom is standing there with her hands in her coat pockets looking at Michael like she's watching paint dry or something. I guess I expected her to be looking at him with her hands over her mouth in disbelief?

They just got home. They're confused. They haven't gone inside yet. Also, the shot is paused moment. They do this on stage in plays for dramatic moments, but I can't remember what it's called. It's like a freeze in time. (Even though the dad moves I think)

I met this six year old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes, the devil’s eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply evil…” He also said “You're talking about him as if he were a human being. That part of him died years ago.” Loomis doesn’t consider Michael human because of a deeper, psychological POV that he has. In a way, he’s the one who understands Michael the most.

@@dennydarkko Oh and I forgot to mention his ability to vanish at will! Check out the scene where Laurie is watching him from the upstairs window...he literally vanishes! That's creepy as hell and obviously not something a regular person can do! He also vanished when Laurie spotted him behind the bushes! It took Annie like 5 seconds to peek around and he was gone! And if you've watched Halloween Kills, remember how he vanishes while being chased by Officer Hawkins in the flashback scene? He literally turned a corner and vanished!

My mom had the shit scared out of her when she saw this movie in theaters. She went home and was hanging out with her friend who she saw the movie with and she dressed up like “ghost” Micheal Myers and she lost her shit. Still hilarious.

This is still one of the best and creepiest movies 😎👌 it's all the times he stalks that make his kills so scary(you never know when it's actually going to happen)and the fact that part of him is still the child that wants to play mixed with a stalking psychopath is downright terrifying. Excellent use of camera and tension to the final climatic scene leave you feeling very uneasy and wanting more 👏

Then in the sequel, he gets shot some more times, including in *both* eyes, and then he's set on fire. And in current timeline, set 40 years later, he gets hit with a crowbar, then with a chair, then shot in the shoulder, hit with a car, gets two of his fingers shot off, shot in the cheek with a rifle, stabbed in the back, hit with a frying pan, thrown down the stairs, and then trapped in a flaming basement. *He survives all of that.*

My favorite horror movie, with my favorite horror villain, with one of my favorite directors, kill counted by the legend James. This movie holds a special place in my heart. Thanks to James, the first ever horror movie I ever watched was The Thing after he said in that kill count video that he recommended people watch it. I am glad I made that decision. And from there I became obsessed with John carpenter. I came across Halloween and gave it try on Halloween night. I never had been on edge and so tense from a movie till I watched Halloween. The scene that especially stuck with me is Dr. Loomis’s purely and simply evil monologue. To me that is what sold me on Michael Myers being the best horror villain since you didn’t know what his purpose for killing was. He just killed to kill. Thank you James for introducing me to a genre that has been overlooked with great classic terrifying films.

Interestingly enough, when they unmasked Michael (age 6), it actually pulled his hair and he almost cried. That’s why his face looks like he’s in pain before he composes himself for the shot.

I've never watched the Halloween movies because I get easily paranoid and I hate getting scared. I'm also not a big fan of really realistic gore which sparks the question of why I watch these videos. I love the way James tells how the story goes and these videos are much more lighthearted. This channel kinda makes me want to start getting into them! (But I think I'll stick to these videos for a while lol)
