I care not about the grading. I just think the guy doing the handstands to music is brilliant. Plus he looks like he's having so much fun. Dance is definitely the best form of exercise - hands down!! 👏

Would have been cool to add things like tripod headstand, Crow pose or Handstand against the wall. Things that are easier then a normal Handstand help building up the skills.

Very cool video! How would you rank the handstand on parallel bars?
@movementforclimbers
@movementforclimbers 3 жыл бұрын
It was a bit tricky for me to learn HS on bars at first, but once you get used to how you need to apply pressure through your grip to rebalance, you'll realize that you actually have slightly better power and control than on flat floor. V3/V4 for regular HS on parallettes. If you're talking about actual gymnastics parallel bars (4 feet off the floor), then bump it up to V5 for high ball fear factor.

I love handstands so much, I've got all the easy stuff clean except hollow back (back injury), and all the hard stuff except press multiples to an ok standard. Currently trying to work through wrist injuries so can't train as much as I would like.

i'm a v12 handbalancer working on OA stalder, OA switch, and OA croc to OAH, but bro you missed the level of flags, there were no handbalancing flags, I feel like a handbalancing flag is probably a v11 or v10 because the balance isn't hard but the flexibility, strength, and coordination is high.

Another great video! I've been practicing my hand stands over the past few months and I think it's had a great impact on my climbing in terms of shoulder stability and body tension. Do you think it's worth it for climbers to invest time working calisthenics moves like this?
@movementforclimbers
@movementforclimbers 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! A lot of top climbers either actively practice handstands or come from a gymnastics background. Alex Megos, Nathaniel Coleman, Brooke Raboutou, Margo Hayes, Tomoa Narasaki, Meagan Martin to name a few. Handstands are also great antag for wrists and fingers.

walking handstand imo is easier balance wise than standing straight handstand.If you start leaning too much to one direction you just start walking in that direction to correct. At the very least it should be the same rating for balance difficulty compared to straight handstand

hey yo great vid but i have to disagree with the one handed handhops, they look pretty cool but are much much simpler then for example OAHS. I could do 10-12 hops on one hand (so close to mastered the move) but I couldnt even get close to a OAHS.

no, the impossible grade is possible, since you have examples. The true impossible grade is the one arm freestanding handstand pushup, which hasn't been done by anybody, because it's mechanically impossible to balance.

Isn't it consider a bit safer for the elbows do start with arms a bit bent and then move on to the straight arm thing when you have already mastered it? I've struggled with golfer's elbow and had to stop my handstand practice for a while because of that but I saw that suggestion in several places as a suggestion to put less pressure on it.
