@AbdoulayeTarnagd
@AbdoulayeTarnagd 8 ай бұрын
@@Darko807You can't be happy all the time because it's a fleeting emotion that comes and goes. If you just live, then your life is going to be pretty average, 9 - 5 job, 24% bodyfat. I think I would rather be a little stressed out but actually experience a life. Where I get an income doing something I enjoy, where I have good fitness, joining a martial arts club, etc. And it's a stronger purpose than happiness because if you aren't happy, somethings wrong. Making your purpose happiness is kinda torture because it's something out of control, and when you're not happy, you're doing something wrong, but happiness was an emotional outside your control. It's like saying if the weather is snowing, then I'm doing well, if it's sunny, then I'm not doing well. But you couldn't even control the weather, so if progress is defined by something you can't control, then that's an L, imo. Progress in life should be measured by the progress towards the tangible goals you set for yourself.

I feel like people have a really one sided idea of how "success" is made. While hard work and resilience are important factors, actually just being lucky and having good fortune is seriously underminded for their contribution to one's success. You can be one of the best content creators out there, but if the algorythm doesn't favor you, you will not get that fame you're seeking. Hard work helps us perform a lot better in something and it can draw attention over our performance, but the reality is that you also need some luck to get to the "big end goal" you have. In conclusion, learn how to work harder for your goals, it's not something you should overlook at all, despite it causing you discomfort. But be mindful not to take credit for every good thing that happens in your life like it was all the pay-off of your work, you may as well have been fortunate in your outcomes.

I've realized this for a while now. Feeling 'good' is not necessarily a requisite for true happiness. The father who has to work long, grueling hours to come home late, to see his kids sleeping peacefully and in good health, will be much more willing to say that he's happy, even though he suffers extensively. But the rich man who does not have such responsibilities and spends his days on the finest clothes and toys and trinkets will quickly reach a point where no material possession will interest him, and may resort to objects of artificial vices of pleasure to replace what he cannot have.

without watching the rest of the video or the rest of the context this is from, i feel like success and happiness are kind if somewhat linked though. Like, if you're not at least mildly successful, you won't have enough money to survive or have a quality life. If you don't have money to afford food, a place to live (me rn), if you don't even have the ability to enjoy life, money is power, you have to have success to some extent to be happy. Again, without watching the video to see his definition of success and his definition of happiness (I will... later), these are just my thoughts in how I struggle with wanting to be successful and financially stable and not homeless someday in tbe future, but how that will come at a cost of being able to live life to the fullest.

I mean it's the same for survival, too. You're not mentally pure when you're forced to survive. Success in general requires for you to sacrifice some of your "wellbeing", although I'm suspecting that people have just gotten weaker in general, mentally as well. That's why, even in a not so extreme setting like passing a test, we make a big deal out of the sacrifice of mental wellbeing sometimes. "I need to rest. This test isn't as important as my mental health. I don't care if I fail, I'm tired and I don't care anymore." We focus on our wellbeing in the present moment and can't think of longterm rewards if we pass the test or overcome a difficult challenge. That's a big problem for our survival and general wellbeing across our whole life.

Not sure I personally agree with this one. I don't know if you can say this definitively for every case. What if you're idea of succsess is happiness? For example I'm a succsesful piano teacher, and I love what I do, and loved the proccess of building up the skills necessary to become a piano teacher! I'd also argue that I'm loads more productive when I'm in a positive mental state. Low mood, especially when caused by clinical depression of anxiety, totally kills motivation for the majority of people. Thats just my 2 cents, love the channel.

I both agree and disagree with this. If i was a bit more successful i would definitely be a lot more happy. You dont become happy by being behind on your bills, not being able to provide for your kids, having to work all day and all night, none of that brings any type of happiness whatsoever. The opposite of those, for me atleast, would bring me ALOT of happiness.

i sacrifice my internal well being for external accomplishment *knowing that i will be sated and content once i have accomplished my goal* thus, the well being *swings back around* and we have the whole circle.

From what ive seen, and my own experience, I dont think people can go back to any original peace or contentment once they achieve something worth while, for one because success requires change. Anything thats hard to achieve requires constant effort to achieve and to maintain and to build. One thing ive learned is that there is no such thing as putting in the work now, so I can then relax and do all the things I currently want. We are very good at adapting to new success, and so over some time, your new success will just feel like baseline again, except you now have much more responsibilities, and old problems and anxieties easily get replaced by new updated ones. Thats a huge caveat that people find themselves in all the time. I believe the most powerful thing for people pursuing something hard to attain, is to choose the right thing that youre most comfortable in constantly doing, because then the process itself can be a source of contentment if youre living a high effort life that youre naturally inclined for. But long term, being picky with the things you do and dont do, and cut off the fat so that you can maintain your success in a way that is the least harsh on you. I think to be content whilst living a high achievement lifestyle, you need to really put the effort into, and strategise being content. You can absolutely be content and happy whilst maintaining big success, but only if the goal itself isnt what youre looking to give it to you.

@@Jake-nb2en well you’re really correct, though the goal is driving me forwards, the doing of the goal is just as satisfying as the completing, that the doing is just as much success as the actual completion. and I do agree with the other main point. Once you reach it, there will be another goal and more problems and things will adapt. I also totally agree with putting effort and intention into contentedness on the way to the previously mentioned goal.
