■ HANOI, VIETNAM: There are luxury hotels and then there are budget hotels. In Asia however there's yet another type of accommodation for those on a tight budget: capsule hotels.
Invented in Japan, this hotel type is now spreading across Asia to satisfy the insatiable thirst for budget accommodation amongst European and Asian travelers alike.
This particular hotel I stayed at is located in Vietnam's capital Hanoi and has only been open for a week. Naturally it was in immaculate condition.
But what was it actually like to reside in one of these capsules? And when normal hotel rooms in Hanoi are so cheap, can one justify to stay in a capsule when savings are in the single digits? This and more as I tour Vietnam's newest capsule hotel.

Probably cause it would be illegal in Norway, the EU, the US or 90% of the Western world. I mean a women only elevator would be fine. IF there where two. And the other was open to men/all. FYI, 14$ in Vietnam are way more bigger than you can imagine. This also a reason why alot of America travelers decided to go to Vietnam. Since their money can be exchanged for more, meaning that they can do more things and buy more stuffs. For reference, my family have 3ACs that run all day, and it only costs us 120$ a month, together with internet and water bills.

@Blubbylikestoplay So you're not gonna visit Vietnam because an elevator is sectioned off for only women? Really?
@TN1965
@TN1965 3 жыл бұрын
It really is not sexist at all, different countries have different cultures, and as such, will likely treat people differently. It is called a security option, keeping the women safe from dangerous criminals, as in a country like Vietnam, there aren't as many laws for certain things, so it could make it easier for a criminal to do bad things.

I'm extremely claustrophobic, I can't even take the lift to go home (I live in a two story apartment, on the second floor), but that room fascinated me, I'd like to spend some time in it. It seems cozy, very cozy!

He didn't say that "men are stronger than women;" he was saying that women tend to have more *luggage* / bags with them, which is certainly true. And would be less likely to be considered " sexist" in most of those Western countries he was alluding to.
