Little trick put the parts in a ziplock bag with just simple green HD. Fill the ultrasonic cleaner with just water, drop the ziplock bag in the water and run it. Saves on simple green HD and you just empty the water after your done. Works great 😁

Love your "Robin Hood" on the wall. That's something to be proud of. I shoot recurve with wooden shafts and when I R.H. one I shout in joy and then in anger. Good wooden shafts aren't cheap.

Nice presentation...and I agree...don't over think. I haven't cleaned anything but brass in my UltraSonic (mainly clean rifle casings after resizing to remove lube). Wanted to clean some BCGs so started looking to see what folks were using for a cleaning agent. Thanks again. Still relevant 8 years on.

I use my foot messager. Put the gun in pour hot water and simple green HD. Turn it on and it bubbles and vibrates the carbon away along with the old lube. Take it out dry it with hair drier it gets hot then apply Froglube. Leave for a couple of hours and come back and wipe it off. Cleaned and lubed. Nice

I have one from Hornady and did as you did; disassemble the BCG, place in cleaner, turn on cleaner and heater. Wait 20 minutes, dry, lube and reassemble. This sure beats scrubbing each part with a brush and cleaner and its less effective.

I would spray out the bolt with contact cleaner since that's pure alcohol and will displace any remaining water and then evaporate. I'm thinking about getting one of these to clean my bcg. Looks like a good idea.

Do you ever put the trigger parts in the cleaner? Does it vibrate the screws loose? I was thinking of putting my pistol in there and get the gunk out of the trigger and frame parts.

@2AGuysAndGear
@2AGuysAndGear 7 жыл бұрын
I totally wing it. I generally do about a Tablespoon (more if the part is really bad) of Simple Green, then fill it with water. As for time, just run it through for a few minutes and at the end of the cycle, if its still dirty do it again, if its clean your good to go. Don't over think it, just drop it in and roll with it.

I keep hearing so many different opinions on Simple Green HD. I used it yesterday and it seems to work just fine. Any issues with corrosion or any kind since this video was made? I placed my entire bolts in the hot solution, did a hot fresh water rinse and blew the bolt out with my air compressor. Am I missing anything here?

Thanks. For anyone else wondering, I received this reply from Simple Green: Thank you for your inquiry. The product that you purchased, Simple Green Pro HD, is the recommended product for cleaning gun parts. We recommend a 1:3 dilution ratio followed by a rinse and drying with compressed air. It is also recommended to wipe all components down with an alcohol wipe to displace any moisture on the surface. After cleaning reapply gun lube or your choice of protectant.

At Walmart they sell something called break free powder blast. It is in the sporting goods around the gun cleaning supplies. I used this to clean my entire pistol, and have cleaned multiple guns with it. The slide was dirty and blew all of the residues away. Did a fantastic job cleaning the trigger. Leaves your gun free of oils and cleans away carbon without having to scrub. I still want an ultrasonic cleaner to get a good deep clean on my slides and my bolts.

I have the exact same unit and used the Simple Green at 1:3 with tap water on an HK93 bolt head. After 14 minutes I took it out and rinsed it off in tap water. I dried it with a paper towel, in a few seconds it was covered with orange oxidation. Did the tap water and 1:3 ratio cause the oxidation?
