I agree with Eddy, thats not "perfect pitch", that is an ability to remember the sequence. Like those with photographic memory that can reply an image they saw. Non musicians may even sing back the melody of a song/piece even with more accuracy that a experienced musician. Eddy even aids his memory by picturing the position and moves of his hand more than just remember the melody.
@JohnDoe-sx2ij

It is perfect pitch. It is easy to be in the wrong key.
@rauleli
@rauleli Жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-sx2ij half agree with you on that matter about the right key. I think this is mislabeled as "perfect pitch" when it would be some thing related more with good memory. of course, having an arsenal of sequences, scales and 40 hours of practice a day, will help to recall a piece with ease.
@purewaterruler
@purewaterruler Жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-sx2ij no, any musician with enough relative pitch training(which, granted, isn't easy) would be able to do this if they could remember. The real challenge for them is the memory. For example, all a person with good relative pitch would in principle need to do is pluck the A string, and they can then figure out the rest of it relative to A.
@JohnDoe-sx2ij
@JohnDoe-sx2ij Жыл бұрын
@@purewaterruler I agree that memory is the real challenge, but perfect pitch will help more because they can recognise the intervals quicker than people using relative pitch
@purewaterruler
@purewaterruler Жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-sx2ij I actually disagree with this specific statement in general. Perfect pitch gives you notes not intervals. To figure out the intervals you would have to do a small calculation. But someone with good relative pitch hears the intervals just as easily, if not easier.

OK, let's be honest for once. Never mind perfect pitch, Brett and Eddy are top professional violinists. If you have to bring in Ray Chen, Hilary Hahn and Maxim Vengerov, playing the music they spend their lives performing all over the world, to find a subtly more refined or accurate version than what you are doing with less preparation and performing experience, you are very high up there. Games like this also evidence a very high level. So, I'm going to go practice now.

As our of your fans who was born in the first half of the previous Century, editor san, please would you consider leaving your delightful comments on-screen longer for slow and aging eyes to enjoy as well as the quick young ones? This has been so much fun for me. Thanks.

TBH I feel like the memory aspect of this is harder than the pitch! I don't have perfect pitch, but with a starting pitch could play back some of the easier levels ... but remembering 30 seconds of music is hard on one listen!

The fact that this isn’t perfect pitch but also technique and memory and Eddy still manages to get it right! 🤩

It's funny how Eddy was talking about listening to the harmony and you can play anything in that key and sound "right" and all I can think about is "You mean jazz?" 😆
@eiralinnea
@eiralinnea Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah, phrasing in jazz is what I learnt when I was younger - you're kind of excpected to make the song your own via surfing around the harmony and as long as you're in the right key, you can bebop your way around any memory slip. 😄

This isn't so much a perfect pitch test as a memory test! Wow, well done, Eddy. This reminds me of when Jordon composed those two crazy pieces for you guys to memorize a few years ago!

Gotta stress Eddy as well right… Not just Brett :P Feel like I’ve not seen Brett so happy in a while. Agree though it’s definitely as much a memory test as it is perfect pitch.

Can you guys do a few videos going over some less known violin concertos? It was nice seeing you play the Bruch 2 and it'd be fun to get your reactions/reviews to some less popular concerto pieces. Bach Dminor (harpschord transciption), Florence Price Violin Concerto 1, Saint Saens 2, Bruch 3, Vieuxtemps 3, Bartok 2...the list goes on and these aren't event the obscure ones. Cheers

That was really impressive and fun to watch! The nerdy talk was also pretty insightful. I would sincerely listen to hours of nerdy talk about classical music. By the way, I'm so happy I could recognize the piece playing in the background at the beggining and at the end of the video.

Just in case you never noticed, Tatsuki Narita had commented on your reaction to his cadenza in "Hardest Violin Cadenza EVER!?" video in 2018. He had commented a couple years after you posted that video. He said he would like to collab with you guys.....just in case you could squeeze in a quick little LingLing workout in your busy schedule. Please I personally always love your collabs and esp I miss the LingLing workouts.
