I've done my first hardscaping last summer and I'm ... addicted. I now have plans across my property. Unfortunately, it's not cheap. But, it is endlessly rewarding. Still working on the ROI, but the payback in every day enjoyment is priceless. There are many videos on hardscaping, but I find myself returning to your videos every time because you strike me as a true craftsman.

🤣 I know right... I can't get enough of this work. It is expensive but like you said, so rewarding! The ROI is making your your property more valuable. Hardscape installs can really make your house valuable, people love patios, walkways and walls. I'm glad you are enjoying my videos, I have been watching other guys on KZfaq for years... I love it. But I'm really trying to set mine apart, I don't agree with most people who make videos on here when it comes to how they install. So I wanted to share with everyone how we do it. Thanks again for the support! ✌

Good job, the attention to detail is always noticeable on your projects. One thing I have been doing with the solid steps (we usually use Techo Rocka) is put a few pavers underneath each step right behind the step below. We put some glue on them and lay the step right on top. I feel that this prevents the steps from creeping forward over time because it has to move the step below it. I saw a project done by a local competitor where the staircase crept forward over an inch and left large gaps in the paver walkway above within a year.

Thanks man, quality is key! And that is actually an incredible idea... That helps a ton I bet. I will definitely being doing that on the next granite step install, thanks for that tip. ✌

Thanks brother! It really was a huge transformation for that house.... They were excellent customers, they told me there were a couple quotes cheaper than mine but they chose me simply because my work (pictures and videos I showed them) were far better quality. That is #1 to me man. I can't walk away from a job that I am not happy with..... But thanks again brother, I really appreciate the comments! ✌

I really enjoy your videos. You have inspired me to try a patio paver project on my own. I understand it is a tremendous amount of work, but I'll make it easier on myself and keep the shape to a rectangle. The problem is, how do you calculate the number of pavers for a 500 sq ft when the pavers are different sizes and then yards of base material?
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it, keep it simple and it will be much easier. Most 3 piece designs come already pre mixed on the pallet when you buy them. Most pallets have 100 - 120 sq ft per pallet. For the base material, you need to do some math for sure. To find the amount cubic yards needed, you do length x width = Sq Ft x depth = cubic ft. That needs to be divided by 27 (27 is how many cubic feet in a cubic yard). Let's say you are planning on 6 inches of base stone... 20 ft x 25 ft = 500 sq ft x .5 (that represents 1/2 a foot of base stone) = 250. 250 divided by 27 = 9.25 cubic yards needed.

Thank you for the kind words! I hope you find a good contractor out there, they are hard to come by but there are definitely quite a few out there. Take your time choosing and get multiple bids. And don’t forget, the cheapest guy is usually the lowest quality. And the highest priced guy may be taking advantage. So find the middle ground and hire someone that seems the most trustworthy. Good luck! ✌🏻

Honestly bro I think I can get pretty close to that w concrete, obviously it would take like 3 pours and would be expensive, my form liners can Def make those steps, the colors are hard to get exact though, you will see when I make a video this spring, I wana do some cool stuff like that around my house, make it more about real decorative concrete

@TheChristianHardscaper I had to take a little brake, I have a couple ready! I must say I had a really good day yesterday and I am doing a video about it too! Hey I have a question, could you use square tubing for screed rails? Jw why ppl don't use them? I have seen pvc and that is silly, even I know that. Also I don't think I could match what u can do with that little 1.5 inch inside black border, no way to match that with any type of concrete. Hit me on Facebo when u get a min
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
@@GRUBB-MUDD Nice! Glad you had a good day man, looking forward to the video about it. Yea, you could use squaring tubing for rails, I just find these gas pipes to be perfect, especially because they are galvanized, no rust... That inner border is sharp, skinny but it pops!

How do you figure out the paver pattern?
@TheChristianHardscaper
@TheChristianHardscaper Жыл бұрын
I lay pavers randomly, I don't follow a pattern. These 3 piece paver styles can be laid randomly right off the pallet. Just need to watch out for a few things, like breaking up long joint lines, no 4 way corners (when 4 pavers touch at their corners) & not too many same size pavers next to each other. If you pay attention to those, you will be all set ✌
