We show you how to rebuild your front forks and install aftermarket suspension on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle in this completely free tutorial video. For the most part, it doesn't matter what year or make of Harley you have as the procedures for this are all very similar. We show you how to remove your ignition switch, inner dash panel, and fuel tank to access the fork cap nuts. Often times you can use a fork cap nut socket to remove the fork cap nuts without having to remove the fuel tank. However, removing your fuel tank gives better access to break the nuts free and tighten them back down. You can actually use a standard box end wrench and get plenty of leverage on them with the fuel tank off.

Hey Guys, awesome video, you're the best one out there doing this kind of content ! I have a 14 FLHTK and I'm trying to find a rebuild kit with damper rods and the like. I can't find anything, I have never had my forks out that might be part of the problem mine being a Rushmore bike. Can you steer me in the right direction? Thanks a lot !!

Honestly, the progressive monotube fork upgrade was the best upgrade I've done to my bike. Don't even waste your money on a rebuild kit. I have no braking dive, and huge confidence booster on rough roads. Complete game changer, I can't say enough good things about it.

Just an fyi if you leave the fork on the bike and drop the fork 1/2 below top triple tree that acts as a stop when it pops up then pull out wrench and it pops up again then just loosen clamp and slide fork tube out. I just did this by myself on my 2000 flhrci. Not sure how I am going to put back together by myself but I’ll let ya know

My top cap was leaking several years ago and I didn't have time to address it myself so it went to the Stealership. The guy replaced the top cap oring and he must've used a MASSIVE 21mm wrench to tighten it up. When I decided overhauling them 8 years later I found out exactly how tight he tightened it! I COULDN'T GET IT LOOSE AFTER LOWERING IT AND RE-TIGHTENING THE PINCH BOLT! I tried a heat gun & torch, wouldn't budge and was spinning inside the lower tree. Being out of options I opened up the slot via a chisel enough to allow me to place a piece of sandpaper inside it and then shoved the fork tube back into the lower tree and tightened the piss out of the pinch bolt. THANK GOD it didn't slip and broke free with the aide of a piece of pipe over the wrench which gave me another 2' of leverage that I needed. SUCCESS!! Thanks for sharing your video, it was very helpful even though I was working on an older Road Glide it was still very helpful! 👍

Question l have a 91 flhtcu and l want to change the oil but it has a crossover steel line on top that goes to the left fork which has a box that seems to be hooked up to a solenoid of some kind? Have you ever worked on this type of set up? If you could give me a heads up on how to do this fork oil change ld really appreciate it... thanks Chuck

I would love to see a similar video with an inverted fork such as in the low rider ST. There are no good videos on the market today and the only video has the key aspects skipped, or out of frame on the video. Your videos are always awesome and very handy. Consider covering the newer models of softtails with the inverted front forks.

I am fixing to purchase the progressive fork lowering kit for my 2019 sgs, my question is, I only have 10k on the bike, so I need to drain the fork oil and replace the seals, or could I just drop the springs in? I know they have a drop in kit but I don’t really want to use the shorter Spring included in that kit. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
