This woman is turning a simple sentence into a real roundabout lol All she needs to say is "I don't mean you should stop talking and having opinions at all, I think you should stop putting your foot in your mouth". That's it but it's so muddied and drawn out

This was actually hilarious to listen to. Especially when the lady didn’t want her friend to talk. I enjoyed this.

It feels to me like the girls go into this conversation and just don't want to be wrong while they don't know how to be right. So it's just defending, but it's not really clear what.

So the idea is if Dan stops acting like himself people who don't know him yet may like him? the only people who suffer other than dan is the people who love him already? Seems like actual love is more valuable than potential likes from strangers not just to dan but the fans as well

The girl who went all "I am your friend and I WILL defend you" was just as cringey as her friend. She made it sound like she's a knight riding into battle. Both insufferable karens.

This is what happens when fandon queens meet the creators of the property they have come to own. This woman made nothing. She's leeching status of Harmon's work. And she wants him to shut up so she can suck up the credit. Dan is making appropriate points. He is the creator. And he cares about his fans. The fandom queen assumes the thing he created is hers. That she can corral the fans. This is super common in nerd world. Fandom queens are junior cult leaders. And they need to be stopped. Look up final fantasy house.

The thing Dan and everyone on the internet needs to realize is it doesn't matter if you're right or if you're "defending yourself" all anyone is gonna see is you out of context so the best thing is to just not say anything because you're not gonna change anyone's mind so why say anything? In fact I'd argue that managers and agents telling celebrities they HAVE to have an active social media account where they share their unfiltered thoughts with the world was the dumbest shit ever

The lady backpedals so much and then just throws out a bunch of word salad. She also acts like Dan owes anything to anyone who organizes a community centered around his show. He doesn't. He didn't ask anyone to do those things. He's more than generous with her here, but she's not hearing what he's saying. She's hearing what she needs in order to dig in and refuse to take back her statement that he "needs to stop talking".

All this over a tweet. Such ridiculous oversensitivity, the virtue signalling, the entitlement, the narcissism... I really did love this podcast but pretty much any segment where they invite someone up from the audience ends up being insufferable. This Karen made an actual human conversation impossible by being so constantly defensive and precious about every little thing.

Dan Harmon came up in an era when NLP was becoming widely popular, and this is clear in the way he deals with this woman as well as in his work which features hypnosis and manipulation quite heavily. He's just trying to get her to shut up and get off stage. Of course he's in the right though, everyone wants to talk, it's a direct competition.
