Yeah, which I only know bc of a David Simon interview from ages ago where he advocated jury nullification in any nonviolent case involving a possession charge, smth I've kept in the back of my mind ever since. This story is one of the most triumphant things I've ever heard tbh. Imagine these dipshit attorneys who wanted to fuckin ARGUE with Harmon about it. Like this is generally the caliber of people who run society. Its legitimately kind of infuriating

@@dougchesney7234 holy crap. Yes this should be information made readily available by activists. The charges are particularly ridiculous over possession. The smallest amount and they fuck up your life, yet the law is supposedly for preventing drugs fucking up lives. Anyway Im near Bristol, UK and cops basically decided something similar, that they had better things to do than police possession so its often just openly smoked everywhere despite illegality Yeh those who argue mainly missed the point that it wasnt even protest of the law, he stood up because if he didnt believe in it he thought he was biased toward 'not guilty' and should abstain..

Counterpoint to Jeff's "A good juror wants to be there" theory: AttorneyTom says that most jurors who want to be there are Karens.

We only learn about jury nullification as a way to get out of jury duty when really you should not tell anyone at the courthouse you know and then actually do it

Jeff, buddy, jury nullification is not in the Constitution. Nullification is legal, but not because it's written anywhere in the Constitution. It's legal as a consequence of the facts that 1) the prosecution cannot appeal an acquittal of a criminal defendant by jury verdict, and 2) jurors are generally not required to disclose to the court the reasons behind their verdict. Jeff's error always slightly annoys me when I rewatch this, but otherwise it's a fantastic story.
