Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!

Stay away from cotton socks bro. Wick-away liners with Marino wool outers. If it’s super cold. Top off your toes with a toe warmer. For my hands I put a hand warmer in the back of my glove so it doesn’t affect my grip. The blood travels the back of your hand to your fingers. Always works well for me.

Ron the last 2 seasons I've looked forward to your hunting videos. I'm a michigan boy, which I actually live less then 3miles from Kip Sieglar, which is awesome bc I've got to go see his family run the last 2 seasons since I've moved into my house. Anyways I just got really hurt at work and might never be able to use my left hand ever again, so watching your videos makes me happy when they come out so thank you so much for what you do man. A 30 minute video that should have been 10 minutes. Love the channel, but, gotta keep videos short and to the point for viewers to not click through it. I also love hunting from stands, blinds, with dogs and doing drives. But, in the end, there will always be more fellowship on "drives" than deer taken. Which isn't always a bad thing. Enjoyed watching. Very interesting watching how y'all hunt. Where I live in Indiana, we hunt completely different. We sneak in the woods before daylight, and sit in a treestand or a blind. And shooting deer on the move is generally frown upon. But I really enjoyed watching how ya'll do it.

I appreciate the open mind! This is the only season where we push. I hunt late muzzleloader and I do that style of hunting from a blind. In our rough terrain, if we don't hunt in this way, we typically don't hit the quota that the states sets

I noticed you don’t stay put to watch the back door. We do a lot of drives in Wisconsin and most of the deer we get try sneaking out the back door after the drivers are past.

Reminds me of my teenage years when we did deer drives. The best one was when we had 12 in the party and killed 9 deer. We tagged and checked the deer in (every hunter had only one deer tag back then!). The meat was then divided up among all 12. Everyone got a fair share. Those were good times.

@@timbaker882 Nobody's left to do any drives. That was back in the 1980's. Sad, but true. I'll be a senior citizen in December. I still hunt, but hardly no one else does. Getting old is no sin, but it sure is inconvenient.

Drop them deer way to go now the cutting them up starts cook up some fresh back straps, you guys should make a little trailer for hauling them out or pick you up a sled ✌🏻

To help your feet from seating and then freezing spray your feet with a spray on deodorant I know it sounds weird, but it works I have done this for years when I was hunting to keep my feet from freezing

Looks like good deer woods! Try using 5/16 self tapping screws drilled into the heals of your hunting boots for traction they are a lifesaver in icy an slippery conditions

Not to sound negative, but if you are trying to reduce crop depredations I don’t think your deer drives are making that big of a dent. How many do you total over a season generally? You should get a shooting stick for blocking.

@@patrickgibson2828 some of the toughest hunting in the world. No dogs allowed and if you are caught driving (hunting with more then 2 freinds) they take your gun and your license. Can't shoot does here and only allowed 1 buck per year

I've never understood why lowa is limited to using slugs. You could slay the with long range . I use to hunt in Northern MO and it was always 250 yard shots .

Dont underestimate a 12 Guage. And I promise u when it comes to hunting Whitetail most shots are under 100 yards. Whether its Iowa, Ohio, or Tennessee.

Well Iowa legalized straight wall pistol/rifle cartridges the last few years so more and more people are starting to use 350 legends and 450 bushmasters now

You guys should push for being able to use straight wall rifle calibers like many states allow now.really no reason you guys should be stuck with shotguns.

We actually are allowed to use them and some in our group do (like my dad). I don't prefer it because those travel a LONG ways in our hilly terrain and people don't often make the smartest choice. I had a close call a few years ago from a group a few hills over

Obviously, a LOT of people enjoy your hunting videos. It is interesting content. However, I struggle with the sound levels. One second I've got to turn my volume up all the way to have any chance of understanding the whispers. And then BAM! Normal sound level blasts my ear drums. And then just when I've recovered from that we drop back down to a whisper to repeat the cycle. I don't know what the solution is. Maybe perform a voice over of the whisper parts?

I do my best to try and equalize the volume, I do a lot of editing to make it as equal as I can because it’s all post processing on my end. Sometimes I miss clips so that’ll happen tho

I feel bad Ron that u didn't get a deer year yet but I'm concerned that some people r just wounding deer rather than killing them with all the shots going around makes me sad and angry just someone is allowing them to suffer be safe out there k🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍

Hey Earl, that’s a very fair comment. You should be happy to hear that yes we do wound deer on occasion with hunting but that’s apart of the sport. We do our best to only take smart shots and this year, we haven’t injured a single deer that we didn’t kill

Why don't you use a rifle? More accurate and way less drop in bullet in longer distance.

The bullet drop is the exact reason why I choose not to use a rifle. With the hills that we hunt, I don't want my bullet to be able to fly for miles

I think pushing on public is disrespectful. I had a group push a group of deer away from me this year. Didn’t see another deer till the last day and ended up wasting a tag. I was visible from the road at that.

really not "shotgun" season since they allow muzzleloaders and any weapon that shots a straight jacketed round (see 450 Bushmaster, 350 legand, etc....)

Not sure why you all are dragging your deer instead of putting on the rack of the 4 wheeler. I found the more you drag the worse it is on the meet. Just my experience.

Glad you landed a couple. Always dress for the worst weather forecast next time. You knew it was going to be cold and wet yet some didn’t dress accordingly. Half the commentary was moaning about the weather conditions. Too much complaining for something that could have otherwise been overcome.

These animals feel pain just like you. But I suppose murdering innocent animals that want to live like you is thrilling for you. What, you think there's a free ride in the universe and you won't pay for the suffering that you inflict on these poor animals. Well, there is. Everything is cause and affect, and you will experience suffering and loss in this life and the next. You can't cry at your last breath that you were never warned. I just warned you...you will have to pay your Karma off...and the pain you will feel as their suffering runs through your soul will be horrible. I feel sorry for you.
