In this video we harvest Spicebush twigs and process them up to make some tea. I also explain some rules of thumb for harvesting the twigs, leaves, etc. The tea that's made though light in color, is strongly aromatic and extremely delicious. It's ease of harvesting and preparation makes it ideal for foraging and cooking.
Spicebush has many edible parts like; Leaves, twigs, bark, and berries. Some of it's uses other than teas include; Allspice substitute for baking, syrups, sodas, dessert sauces, ice creams, and more. The plant also contains medical properties and is good for colds, flus, Anemia, Rheumatism, Gout, and to expel Worms.
Before harvesting any plant, and especially before eating it, you should know how to positively identify it.

Glad you liked it but please, please don't destroy the Spicebush. It's necessary for the Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly. Just pick a few good twigs off each Bush and you'll quickly have all you could ever need.

That's interesting, someone else mentioned on one of my videos that there was an ad for roundup so a probiotic ad is much better! Thanks for commenting Ali!

I made spicebush tea and its dark and black like black tea. I used a lot of big twigs, is that why? Is it safe?
@TrilliumWildEdibles

Yeah it would be safe, though really strong and probably unpalatable. As you notice I use the younger twigs and they are pretty small, around the size of spaghetti noodles. So next time just use the smaller twigs and less of them, it only takes a couple to make a tea.

my goats actually don't care much for this plant ironically.

That is shocking as goats will eat anything. But hey more for you right?! Thanks for commenting Noah!
