It was about time to catch up with our great friend Jim Kovaleski again & see what's going on at his home market garden this time of the year. Winter is officially growing season for all our favorite tender annual crops & Jim is cranking up his production as the cooler temperatures arrive.
For those who are unfamiliar with our previous videos with Jim:
Jim Kovaleski is known for growing vegetables & fruits year-round for the farmers' markets of the Tampa Bay area of Florida & coastal Maine. He has been a long-time inspiration for so many other growers, and his customers just adore him & his produce.
From now until April, you can join Jim & the other vendors at the Tasty Tuesday Farmers Market in New Port Richey, FL, every Tuesday at the Main Street Library from 10am - 1pm.

The way he talked about taking a while to realize that salt water was harming his seedlings reminds me of how it took a while for me to realize that excessive omega 6 intake was harming my health. It's something I had heard about but didn't take seriously.

Does Jim want to get rid of the tree stumps in the middle of his yard? There is a good organic technique using Epsom salts. Cut that stump lower than the soil and mulch level as best you can. Using a large drill, drill multiple holes in the stump. Fill the holes with Epsom salts and water in. Cover with soil and mulch and wait for the rot to set in. Keep it moist for some time. It can take a while to completely rot away. You can add more Epsom salts from time to time.
