I'm not discounting the possibility that the harvestman may have been prodded, but these types of creatures do move in herky jerky ways. Ever watched a daddy long leg spider walk? Looks similar to what we see in this video.

So the "worm" basically pins the harvester down, starts to walk all over it, drills into the harvester, then injects acids. Those acids digest the harvester while killing it, oh and then this "worm" slurps him up like a milkshake in a strangely shaped cup.

Harvestmen aren't known for being hugely predatory hence their name. They scavenge and eat plant and fungi matter, they're not equipped with venom, any physical weaponry like razored legs (like manti which aren't arachnid but just an example) or claws (like scorpions) or spinnerets, or that a decent armour. I was not surprised the worm got it. With that weaponised slime/glue, the harvestman had no chance.

I'm not an entomologist, but I think the bumps on the worms skin actually preserve moisture, rather than acting as a run-off mechanism. Something to do with its feeding schedule, and the fact that it has to remain moist or it dies.

The velvet worm does not fear the Reaper. Unfortunately, that poor li'l jumper had reason to :( I'm not sure if I've said this before, but 3:09 makes me want to hug Linda. I love ladies who know their critters, and after hearing harvestmen called "spiders" so many times, knowing a spider from a harvestman is a pretty big panty err, boxer-brief dropper for me.

The Velvet Worm is technically a long ranged fighter, in this case, yet it's so good at it that its long ranged attack is a Slow. The more it shoots out its sticky putty, it gets to the point where the Harvestman is disabled. The VW then closes the distance and sucks it dry, Lifesteal at work.

When I lived in Eastern Pennsylvania, there were Harvestmen as big as dinner plates from the tip of 1 leg to another on the opposite side. Where I live now, they're barely bigger than a mousetrap spring.
