Scorpions do not lose often in bug v bug battles from what I seen in this series. Most of the time it’s that arm like stinger that’s like a cheap shot while they grapple with whatever they are killing up front. The only times I see them lose is when that stinger is torn off in the first strike by whatever is attacking them.

Man scorpions have one of the best weapons against other arthropods...their long and flexible venomous stinger. Grab, then stab, even in tight situations like this. That is a deadly weapon. That's why they win most of the time, and definitely almost always against spiders.

For anyone wondering, the amblypygid is the bug that was shown in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where it was used in a demonstration of what the three Unforgivable Curses could do (controlled by the Imperius Curse, tortured by the Cruciatus Curse, and killed by the Killing Curse).

Same thing happened to my amblypigid, from the same species of scorpion too if that is the Florida Bark Scorpion- Centruroides gracilis. It sucked. I had been searching all over the terrarium for the whip scorpion and couldn’t find it. Assuming the whip scorpion was dead, I transferred my three male bark scorpions into its cage to later find that the whip scorpion had molted, only to be stung and torn limb from limb by the three intruders.

Would like to see some more upset matches, so far everything seems to be following the same sort of pattern Tier 1: Swarm/Colony Tier 2: Scorpion Tier 3: Centipede/Spider/Mantis Tier 4: Most everything else Tier 5: Individuals of a Swarm/Colony Tier 6: Larvae or passive herbavores This probably doesn't encompass everything, but it seems to be a common trend to determine the winners. Love the series, but most of the winners are a bit predictable.

Would be interesting to see another swarm v swarm, or an individual strong enough to actually beat a swarm. Lets get some more upsets like Raspy Cricket v Tarantula!

PsyoCartographer That wasn't an upset, more like 50/50. The other orthopterans would have held their own if they were not in matches rigged against them. Swarm vs swarm...judging from what I have seen, there would be mass casualties on both sides.

I'd consider it enough of one to call it an upset. Just based on types, it was a cricket vs a spider and most people down in the comments were guessing spider at first as well. Granted the Raspy Cricket is a big mofo, but it was still a disadvantaged type of bug, at least based on the tiers.

A Vinegaroon looks like a hybrid of a mygalomorph spider and crab, wheras an amblypygi seems to be a hybrid of scorpion and crab. Fascinating, brutal creatures.
