The thing I dislike about some successful people is when they say something like "If you don't like your job, just quit! Do something you love!" Yeah, if it were only that easy. Many of us can't take the risk to just blindly do something like that.

The world is broke. I don't mean broken. I mean broke. In a country that isn't broke, "just quit" would be sound advice - countries will have social safety nets to protect people from working soul-destroying jobs, while at the same time that same country would realize the value of idle labor for entrepreneurship. When entrepreneurs talk about "unemployment needs to go up" they are right - unemployment needs to be at around 5% - that's so when you want to start a business there's a healthy amount of people looking for a job that can help you out. Unemployment is good and states should encourage a decent amount of the population being idle so new businesses can start up. What's bad is that the world is simply broke. You have these handful of morons who hold a monopoly on wealth, basically causing negative inflation by hoarding everything, and the rest of us just have to deal with this garbage. If you can't just quit, it's because your nation has failed you.

And he doesn’t even have to read shitty comments all day, he literally has mods to do that for him. Retail workers, waitstaff, and other customer service workers have to deal with entitled customers all day. Doctors and nurses have to deal with rude/scared/violent patients every day. You make some fair points on streaming being a job. A crushing ladder of betrayals, luck, and exposing yourself for money. And some of them may be very afraid at their core that if their fame disappears , they might not have any plan B. It's nothing new, really. Child actors have suffered that. It takes a lot to keep humble, keeping to yourself and truly respecting and letting people be. But any chance of being relatable evaporates when they direct their hate into "9 to 5 jobs". And they spew their hate and unhinged uncultured points of view on everything. Why should anyone care what a "internet fame" lottery winner has to say about (serious topic)? Unfortunately, a lot of their younger viewers will be impressed by that.

He kinda doesn't address, or glosses over, three important things. One: Streaming pays far better than other jobs at his level, and you make much more the average American. Two: It does not require dealing with workplace drama, commutes, getting an education, bosses, layoffs etc. Three: There are jobs that involve heavy socializing just like his example does. Because streaming and creating content has so many more upsides than downs, those people who get those benefits should complain less than those who don't.

Like I did try streaming and for me as an introvert I am definitely not enjoying doing several hour livestreams (unless I'm playing a game that I want to play). However, since I work in ITS and also backend server stuff. I just get really annoyed because all Hasan needs to do is getting up, making himself look nice, and get on stream to bitch or whine about how people should be more communist (even though he is swimming in the money himself).

Great comments, glad you take a balanced perspective in saying how stupid it is to complain about a really good job with extra hours that you add yourself, and yet how there are stressful and unpleasant aspects to most jobs and everybody should get to complain to someone. Just not to your mostly less fortunate audience and supporters. And you're so right about how much of our lives are dominated by jobs that pay too little to live well and where we usually get little say about what the rules and procedures are going to be.

I worked at a warehouse for an electronics retailer and now i am a musician/producer working my own hours - and can wholeheartedly say that any gig you get paid for without having a boss is already miles better- i realize he’s probably more burned out from feeling that he has to be in character 24/7, but Hasan has just done it for too long and lost sight, physical labour every day for 10 years would’ve visibly aged and weathered Hasan so much that he would’ve looked like a different person. He looks 10 years younger than his biological age at the moment.

Thinking of it apples to apples, it’s like the CEO of a major company complaining to the McDonald’s cashier that they both have it rough as they have to talk to people all day. The cashier just wants you to shut up and eat your food so they can go home. I honestly think people are really just tired of hearing Hassan bitch and moan.

main takeaway, my thoughts: it's OTHER people, ie the customers, that make shitty jobs shitty. (as for bosses its hit-or-miss) tho the occupation itself may be boring or dangerous, it's the customer interaction that really destroys your soul, speaking from 1st and 2nd hand experience. it's not the JOB, it's OTHER PEOPLE.

i used to hate my old job with a passion, because when i started i worked with my best mate and i didnt even see it as a job back then, then he got injured while working and they treated him like absolute shit. he quit ofcourse, but i still needed a job- then it became a REAL job a really fucking sucky one, ended up battling and kicked cancers ass got fired while being sick went 1month on welfare, then i found a new job that paid my bus driving license and now i drive elderly people to their doctor and hospital appointments some days can be rough because of the way the whole system is set up, they are tired and just want to go home but they have waited 3 hours for me, so naturally they can be rather impatient and sometimes rude, but as long as you know it isnt personal the job is like tailormade for me.
