Yeah they are definitely not top of the line guns for sure. I know longer have any of them. Although the 12 gauge 20 gauge and 28 gauge I never really had any issues with. But the 410 was crap.

I have one of these and my gas piston went bad. The bottom of the spring came out towards the butt and I can't get the barrel off. Update: I got it fixed, it was the o-ring that was blown back not the spring. I thought I read somewhere they make a better gas piston assembly for magnum loads. I was shooting different types of ammo when I had the problem. Need to see if I can get the better gas piston assembly like the one in this video. This video was very helpful.

You have the third or fourth generation Hatfield 12 ga. mine doesn't have a locking nut for the gas cylinder and barrel I have two cylinders one for 2 and three quarter inch and one for three inch magnums gently tighten the black cap and you should have no problems with cracking, I am going on 3 years with a 12ga. and a 20 ga.Hatfield Sas ,it is best you cleaned all the cosmoline that they shipped it with ,I had to field strip mine and clean them for cycling reliability .good shooting sir.

John it depends on which generation of the Hatfield Semiautomatic shotguns you have ,mine is similar to the weatherby sa8 with 2 gas cylinders ,the newer guns didn't have that ,as for cycling did you push the switch on the receiver? Just a thought with the heavy cylinder mine won't cycle unless I use 3 inch magnums, I learned that the hard way, I went back to the light cylinder and my 2 and three quarter inch 7 and a half target loads worked fine, good luck sir.

@HamiltonOutdoors

I would use it sparingly in the gas system, because you don't want burnt powder residue to build up. I would put clp on it and then wipe it back off with a rag and leave just an ultra thin coat.

Great info... I took the gas cylinder completely apart... I, as you, do not recommend that. The spring you mentioned is very stiff and very difficult to reassemble. Like I stated, I know from my experience. I was wondering... does the gas cylinder nut which holds it, the gas cylinder, onto the barrel have anything to do with the type of rounds it my or may not eject. Can it be adjusted to a lose fit to improve ejecting rounds... The reason I ask... some posted info state no issues with light load ejections while others tend to continue to have issues unless heavy loads are used. Please advise should you have input on my inquiry. Thank you.
@HamiltonOutdoors
@HamiltonOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
No I don't think there's any adjustment you can do to that gas valve. I think it's supposed to be self-adjusting. I know mine now is easily handling the Winchester super targets rated at 1145 feet per second. And it's functioning flawless with those. I think it's just a matter of putting some rounds through it and breaking it in. Thanks for watching

Remove the barrel, the boat handle will contact in front of the receiver cut out of the ejection port. Take one finger and push on the front of the bolt through the barrel opening. Push back and forth slightly on the front of the bolt face while pulling on the handle. There is a sweet spot about a quarter inch back where it should just pop out. @HamiltonOutdoors
@HamiltonOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it is doing the same thing the 410 I got was doing. If you load One in the chamber and one in the tube does it function like that. The problem with mine was that the shell interrupter which is what catches the next round in the magazine tube after one is released is not working. Try shooting One in the chamber and one in the mag and see if it works. And if it functions like that then try loading One in the chamber and two in the mag and see if it continues to try to feed double rounds
