Yes, my mother. When I received the news that she had 24 hours to live. I wasn't sure that I could but I went and stayed overnight in her hospice care room and saw her take her last breath. It was full circle, she saw me take my first and I saw her take her last.

"I was the one who found her" I relate maybe 90% to this since it wasn't my mom who i found it was actually my best friend. imagine getting a missed call from your best friend and seeing how close you live together, you go over to her house and when u enter she's just hanging from the ceiling with her eyes open wide in her room. I wouldn't even wish my worst enemy to feel what i felt.

It reminds me of a story I heard a police officer tell, he said the one time he ever seen one of his fellow officers get shot was one of the most terrifying experiences he's had, he said the guy looked down to his stomach (where he was shot) before saying "I'm going to die... I'm going to die, I'm really going to die" before dying in the next few seconds The way the officer explained it made it sound really terrifying

My dad was really sick in 2017. In the hospital for 5 months waiting for a transplant. After a month of having a breathing tube and pretty much being in a coma he woke up. Once he was able to talk again he told us how much he didn’t want to die and he kept repeating it. I’d never seen him cry before so that hit me hard. Thankfully he got his transplant 10 months later and he’s doing better than he has in 15 years but that time will never leave me.

Yeah, we were neighbours with a family with a mother and two daughters. When they were young their father hung himself in the garage. I think the daughters found him. It definitely screwed them up. The mother was crazily strict and you could feel from their family that things were off. They were all so unhappy. As teenagers both girls rebelled and went completely off the rails. They dropped out of school. Both ran away. Got pregnant. Had abusive relationships. Last I saw the mother she was slowly trying to get her relationship back with her daughters. The whole thing was terrible. I hope this girl had the support she needed to get through it.

Last month, my fiance overdosed. I was the one who found him, it just looked like he was asleep. He was peaceful and his face just looked disturbingly calm. Once I realized what was happening, I had to Narcan him and call the ambulance. As soon as I Narcanned him, it looked like all of his air got shoved back into lungs. When the ambulance came, and he was being brought to the stretcher, he barely seemed like himself. It was so odd. Later on, I got to the hospital and the doctor told me he died twice. He died, then I Narcanned him and again in the ambulance. Luckily, he's doing okay now. He's in rehab, and that experience helped us both to realize things. He wants to be sober, and live a long and fulfilling life, and I have never ever loved someone so much. I'm so grateful everyday that he's here again. I would've missed my best friend.

I'm a veterinary assistant. Nobody talks about the mental exhaustion of medical jobs. I'm 16 and I have watched many animals pass away right in front of me and have had to hold them and prepare them for cremation. The owner's stories are the worst part. One time a woman came in and her cat was in the process of passing away and she was heartbroken. I tried to speak with her and empathize and she told me her husband had just passed away a couple of months ago as well. She also struggled to pay for the medication and process, but she never directed any anger toward me or the staff. She was thankful that we were there. My heart broke and I hugged her and told her life would be better for her soon as that is the way of the universe, and that was probably the only time I've ever cried at work.

That's true, I usually smirk or laugh nervously when I talk about serious things because I feel that uncomfortable. It's not because it's funny for me. I'm annoyed by how easilly people are judging and assuming things like "Oh, she doesn't care that member of her family died, because she's smiling, you see?". Everyone's reactions are very different, I can imagine it's such a trauma to experience other's death or harm, so you never know how you would behave in that situation. There are just too much emotions in one moment. It's often very awkward to talk about sad, emotional stuff very openly with other people, so imagine how harder it's getting to talk like that right in front of the camera 🙄

In January of 2022 I found my neighbor and good friend dead of a stroke. I had to do the compressions until medics arrived. It was very hard and found myself seeing the image of what I walked into everyday. Three weeks later my husband and I were on Uber scooters when his malfunctioned throwing him head first into the concrete… I held him covered in blood trying to apply first aid to him. Unconscious and bleeding out until paramedics arrived. While we did loose him and He was presumed dead to me for over an hour…. He survived by the grace of god after 4 cranial fractures . I have needed a group or trauma therapy and this video has definitely helped. I hope that anyone who has been in this situation knows you are not alone. I saw my dad die from cancer in 2014. He went out slowly in a matter of a few hours. That's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, I was holding his hand, rubbing his shoulder and hair, telling him we all will be ok, that he needed to rest from the pain, but inside I was screaming for him not to leave. I was only 18 and I needed him for so many more things in my life. He went in peace, surrounded of the people he loved the most (my mom, my brother and me).

My grandma left us yesterday at the age of 63. She was sleeping for weeks already, and we took the decision to stop the medication. It took 45 minutes. We were all here for her, her sister, brother, mother, daughter, son, niece and me, her grand daughter. The most horrible is seeing the monitor at 20 beats/minute and realizing : it's happening. I'm crying while writing this, it's been one day only but we were all holding her, caressing her face, telling her how much we love her, she was not alone

I am in my 20s and an EMT and unfortunately I have seen things ppl cannot imagine. I’ve seen many deaths. The worst of it all is I’ve seen ppl mourning the death of a loved one on scene and it saddens me to say that we are insanely undervalued and underpaid. On one occasion at the start of a 24hr shift I saw 4 ppl pass within the first 6 hours of my shift. 3 of which my partner and I performed CPR, unfortunately none came back. 2 of the individual were only in their 20s. Later that day my partner and I received a write up for what the company calls “not completing our shop check out” which is one of then most common and minor policies that every EMT can easily forget to perform due to the fast pace and call volume we receive. I realized at that very moment that the company sees us as numbers on spread sheets they do not take into factor the amount of Physcial and mental stress the job has on us. 17.25 an hour is a crime rate for the things we’ve had to see and do.

Ok I’ve seen a lot of comments saying, ‘’That girl who talked about the child being decapitated was way to happy!’’ It’s called a coping method. She was traumatised- if you see a dead body without a head you’d be scared to death to and you’d try to be happy. So stop blowing up saying she’s ‘happy’ that the child died. Ridiculous. Don’t attack me but, really, stop. You’d be the same. Even if you aren’t people want to try and be happy when it comes to death because it brings pain to everyone. Edit: 2.1K likes I- THANKS-

Most likely PTSD. Most memories are suppressed, so that you can’t feel it on a conscious level. Triggers are difficult because you can’t always know them, especially for people that have been in denial for so long. If you ask me if I have PTSD, I would say I’m not sure. I know there is trauma based on my reactions to certain things I see or hear. A tell tale sign is when you head into a downward spiral of depression and intense anxiety. You can also retrogress to an earlier period in your life and typically that is where the traumatic event originated from.

My father. I sat with him and my family as he passed in hospice care. It was the most difficult moment of my life up until that point, but years later, I now know that it was also the most transformative moment of my life. I appreciated my life, my health, and the love I was lucky to receive from friends and family more than I did before. It took me years to shake off the depression, but I'm a better person today and I'm grateful that I had the emotional intelligence to know that it was a fortunate way to let go of a parent, to be there for them in the moment they needed me most.

Witnessing the death of a loved one is the worst heartache anyone can imagine...the seering pain gets worse everyday. I was 12 when I had to say goodbye to my brother and at that age you build up angst and you find reasons to blame things on yourself or question many "what if" scenarios. Years later my father slowly succumbed to Alzheimer's. The pain of seeing a parent pass is truly an immeasurable anguish. Shortly after, it was my dear mother. Although I was there, I couldn't look at her while she took her last breath because I didn't want that to be the last memory of her...the despair is permanent and something you can never recover from.

When I was in the 6th grade my grandmother collapsed on her front porch from a blood clot and was transported to the hospital. When we went to visit her we were so afraid and unsure of the near future. The first night we finally got to see her.. I was in such shock I never really got much of a word out. I just wish I'd hugged her a little tighter and a little longer then because I didn't realize it would be our last. Later that night we awoke to an emergency call and stormed back to the ICU just as she was being wheeled away for emergency surgery. Frozen, I watched as she passed within 5 feet of me for the last time and I didn't see her there and it still haunts me to this day. I start my senior year of highschool in a week and its coming up on the anniversary of her passing, i just hope I can graduate and make her proud. Don't let any word go unspoken to those you care about, you will regret it like I do. I love you Nanny, sipping sweet tea and cheering on the Broncos with a bird's eye view in heaven!

i’m not the kind of person who usually write a comment on youtube videos. but this video touched me. last christimas, as usual my family was having a diner at my house, and suddenly my grandpa started to feel awful and fall asleep on our sofa. 5 minutes later he’s breath started to change and he died. all of my family was calling for his name and i had to watch my grandpa dying in front of me. i have anxiety attacks and depression. it’s not easy. enjoy ur life as much as u can and say to the people u love, that u love them. it was heartbreaking and painful to watch his dead. i had to call him to see if he was alive or not. i really hope that if someone has depression like me or feels bad about something that u can be better, we all will. :)

I saw the head cook of the kitchen I worked in die. She suffered a stroke and had a bad fall that took her pretty fast. What made me so mad was that she was the sweetest, most considerate person, and as she was being taken away by paramedics (who took 20 f’ckin minutes to get to a RETIREMENT HOME), the head honcho of the place turns to me and starts discussing options to keep me employed there - I had given my two weeks like a week ago… She was just so full of life and love for others. To the point where she wasn’t thinking of herself or her own health. Looking back, I recall not seeing her take many breaks or a lot of days off. She was already doing so much, right up until she passed… and the gm, owner - whatever tf his role was couldn’t even shut his mouth until she on the ambulance.

I was at this choir concert and it was at a resting home. There was this guy in the audience and I just see this nurse check for breathing and then take him out of the room. He was blinking as he was leaving so he didn't die in that moment which I am very grateful. I had two people who died in the hospital and my parents wouldn't let me see them because they had all these wires hooked up to them so I'm happy they wouldn't let me go through that.

Sadie Pawluk A hug is mostly likely NOT gonna help anyone. Not a good thing to do to someone who’s traumatised and grieving over ones death. I’m genuinely serious; trying to console a traumatised and psychologically damaged person is just going end up with them aggressively pushing you against the wall or if you’re lucky, they’ll just tell you to get off them. Don’t physically touch a person who’s shedding tears, you don’t know what that person is going through and it can trigger suppressed/bad memories. It has happened to me; I tend to flinch when someone tries to touch me or get their hands near me, even if they had good intent; I’d get pretty defensive and furious. If you wanna console someone, think with logic not emotions. Just be respectful that not everyone is comfortable with being hugged.

Watched my mom die when I was 9, she had pancreatic cancer and I woke up to my dad screaming her name at 5a.m. Ran into their bedroom and she was laying there with her eyes open, not breathing. It’s a sight I can’t unsee. It’s the first thing I think of when I think of my mom and I hate it. It’s the first and last thing I think about everyday, I haven’t lived normally for 14 years.
