I'm so sorry to hear about the situation you're facing right now and I wish I could afford to support your channel and activities. Unfortunately the last couple of years have been tough for many of us, I no longer have a car, I took another job on top of mines, I got rid of all my gears, except for my X-Pro3, X100V and my M Monochrom, which leaves the door open for creativity just in case, but I have my wife and our wonderful baby boy, who brings joy and happiness every day and my hopes are still high. A dear friend of mine is dealing with the same issues you have (I don't mean money) and I guess I understand a little about how you feel, although I can't walk in your shoes, but, just like him, you have talent, skills, values and a unique way of doing things and looking at the world we live in and it's very important to many of us. So I'm sure there'll come a light in the dark and you'll get back on track very soon. For the sake of essential and what really matters. Take good care of yourself and thanks for sharing!

We are all used to ads. Some of us have KZfaq premium to skip ads. And baked in adds are skipped by jumping a head a minute. You can even add chapters to your video so we can see when a baked in ad stops.

You should absolutely do the ads. Everyone needs to make a living. It’s a simple partial solution to a complex problem. If I can help by spending a couple minutes watching ads to help you, that’s a no brainer.

Just a thought: Have you considered creating a guitar/electric guitar lesson KZfaq channel? Your guitar videos are always great, and your music is soothing. I try my hand at electric guitar (often met with failure), but I keep picking it up to try again. Learning how you personally approach guitar would be amazing (basics, daily practice, advanced, your story with music, etc...) Wanted to throw the idea out there. Love your work. I've learned a lot from your channel, and hope to shoot as well as you do with my X-T3 one day.

I don't see your channel very often but it's always engaging. I'm not a fuji photographer. You're not alone in your situation. I know how expensive Copenhagen is, I'm in London and it's the same here too, petrol being around 1.88 euro a litre. It feels like you're asking permission to allow ads, and that's considerate. I don't think anyone cares if you have ads. The only caveat would be that your opinions are not influenced by the ads. Editorial decisions are too often swayed by the advertisers. if you can avoid that and i've no doubt you can, you owe it to yourself to bring in as much moolar as possible. Good luck.

Your content greatly overcomes any minor convenience of ads. Please take care of yourself first and focus on your strengths. We're all in this together.

Watching this from another wealthy country with identical issues. Property speculators pushing housing costs out of reach of ordinary people. Those who are good at playing the system and engaging with bureaucracy making material gains while truly creative, sincere, caring people struggle. For several years I haven't had a stable base to work from (a 25 year old van!) And that can really impact productivity. I just started a 'real job' but that is out of necessity, it's not a solution to doing creative work. Ideally, for those of us who aren't good at hustling, who lack the 'killer instinct', somebody would take care of unfathomable tasks like contracts and clients and payments. If that person comes along, and you trust them, seize the opportunity. It's frustrating that our society puts so much value on worthless and destructive endeavours, and so little on things that really matter - like sharing knowledge and building community - not only in the arts but in other spheres like education and health. Your videos are wonderful because they are not marketing, they respect the intelligence of the viewer, and acknowledge that each of us might have a different approach. It's valuable stuff and I hope you find a way to get a return on your generosity, whether that's ad revenue, patrons or commissioned work. I'm sure you have a dream project, or an ideal life that you intend to live. Go in that direction and I'm sure the community you have built will support you.

Palle, you a truly one in a million and by far one of the most genuine people on the platform. Things will get better, no matter how long the road seems at the moment. I'd watch 5 ads in a row, in every video, if it meant giving a little bit back.

Necessity is the mother of invention. You’ll find a way to make things work mate. Like most consumers of KZfaq, I use it for free. Adverts are an understandable by product and completely acceptable. If content creators keep putting out work, you deserve to be paid.

Appreciate your honesty and I’d be more than happy to watch a few ads, your giving your time for free to make these great videos so why not make some money.

Good to see you back! It's been a tough time for so many, you're not alone...we understand. So take the ad' money!! Viewers and creators are both in a 'dance with the devil' on KZfaq. Viewers know there will be annoying ads (or tea breaks as I call them...) to enjoy and get the knowledge from creators like you, and you don't like the ads, but you gotta be paid for good work. Onwards and upwards, and when you're at cruising height, you can choose to turn off ads again. Bring on the lens video!

Sorry to hear about the apartment. My thoughts on advertising - no one likes it, but we understand it's often the price to pay to ensure sites we like can keep going.

Why don't you try to do an online course on photo processing or video shooting, etc. I would be happy to buy one, I like your work and would like to learn the details of photo mastery from you. Ads are also fine!

Love your videos chief, and eagerly await whats next. Your long form review of the X-H1 is what got me into the wonderful fuji system! As for ads and stuff its in the opinion of this watcher you need to do what you need to make a living. With the in video sponsorships, a way to make it more manageable for viewers is to timestamp the video, so you can see exactly where the sponsorship starts and ends. Once again, do what you need to mate.

The longer you stay away, the more difficult it must be to come back with something new. Committing to the topic of your next video is a good strategy to break the ice. I'm glad you're doing it and will be looking forward to the next episode. BTW, something has to be done about the insanity of hedge funds being able to buy vast swats of residential real estate to extract rents that citizens cannot afford.

Hey... one other thought jumped into my mind. You could make some extra cash creating intros, stingers, outros and other music clips to be licensed by content creators. You certainly have the skill-set.

I did not know it was elective of the KZfaqr channel owner to allow ads for money, I just thought KZfaq was screwing up the KZfaqr experience for the viewer. I have a channel for local Hikes that are challenging because my Video gear is just a phone and action camera for now, and my viewer base is small in number, so the point is I guess I have not been contacted for Ads. I look forward to Fuji film XT5, for which I have big hopes for. Hang in there Palle, but things are going to get a bit rougher.

Im deeply sorry to hear about your situation and i get sick seeing poeple whom i have respect for go through these type of trouble. Hey man sorry to hear you're having a hard time finding work. The last couple years have certainly been different. I've taken on jobs that I never had any intention to do but tough times make tough people. Thankfully I never got to the point where I had to do KZfaq videos but if that's what it takes to pay the bills then pump them out and stack the ads. My old man used to tell me that you can either have a job or a hobby. Doesn't mean your job can't be what you love but what separates the two is that it's never always something you love. So true. I shot almost dozen weddings last season to make ends meet. Very unfulfilling creatively but I've got mouths to feed so it's hard to say no to 4-5k a pop. I'm doing the same again this summer. Hopefully things go back to normal so I won't have to do that anymore but whatever. It always beats doing a real job.

Just enable the ads. We are all used to them at this point. It’s kind of like we are numb to it now. Having them turned on, on your channel, would not annoy anyone.
