That extreme closeup when you broke the “matte box” 😂… you made me laugh this morning brother! Keep going and don’t stop. You have talent and you are real! This is a HUGE asset in this day and age! Blessings

I really appreciate your long videos like this because they are the most "real life" I'd seen. It's base on your field experience and you really explain the why and the how, so it's not only a pure gear showdown. More of these please.

Even a novice such as myself, it's so easy and fascinating to watch you explain all the kit I'll never be able to afford or use, it's almost hypnotic 🤪. Also, kudos for keeping it together whilst your stuff broke *on film* . Excellent content as always 👍🏻

I did feel sorry for your breakage. It happened fast, as always. You did mention the worn threads and guess this was the last straw. Not sure which threads were involved or whether they can be fixed. Still, nice to see how you tried to solve your problems. Thanks for sharing.

As someone who isn't in videography at all this rig setup looks super crazy and kinda futuristic. 😀 Great video! Hope you can fix the mattebox. 😪

Cheer up dear Palle! Light fiber objects break even "when you look at them". Maybe you can go to someone who does 3D printing to make some replacement parts. Very nice gear/rig by the way!

I think it was a sign of a bigger power - because maybe there is a better matte box out there waiting for you to be found 😇.

Hello Palle. That's a really nice rig man. You should look into the Tenba Cinelux shoulder or backpack bags. They relatively small but are able to fit a fully built rig. Then you don't have to keep breaking down and reassembling. Sorry about the Mattebox man. I too have worked in filmmaking long enough now to know things eventually fall and break 😔 All the best man

Thank you very much for this, Palle ... and for going right ahead and showing us the whole process, up to and including that part of the process of breaking and gluing. Surely the real process behind the camera at any level of film-making has got to include plenty of emergencies and fixes. So we feel like we know what the whole process is, the rough with the smooth.

Sorry Pauley, Excellent video set up. I think you must have grown up on Erector Set Steroids . Easy to see how holding one thing might effect another. I went to film school in the late 80’s and everything was over big then, 60 lbs 5k lights tungsten and such. we could’t work in tight spaces. I am impressed with your clarity and focus. I bet you do dynamite work. I worked in documentary for five years after that education but was kind of forced to give it up, heart break. Like your videos and you seem like a really great guy to work with on production.

For your top handle you could look into the smallrig top handle with a record switch, I bought it lately. Beautiful, it works with Fuji, Sony, Canon and others when you buy the pack with the 3 or 4 cables. You'd save some space because it's integrated. It has 2 arri pins, lockable cold shoe, many threads.

it is rigged for practicality. So the footage would more or less be the same, except for the use of a mattebox and ND filters.But I always use that anyway. But thanks for the input. I'll remember to get that perspective in my videos hereon forward.

Not sure if this helps, (or if it’s too soon!) but smallrig’s mini matte box is excellent. It’s a much better size for the xt4, and it lets you keep 77mm filters on the lens that you can reach from the front. So variable NDs etc aren’t a problem. I’ve been really impressed with it so far. Worth a thought!

For the battery there's a specific Anker high capacity one that Fuji is officially recommending on it's website. PowerCore+ 26800 pd and PowerCore Speed 20000 pd. It has the good voltage for the xt4 so I guess that one is the right choice, a vmount and you can throw it under your rig and above your mounting solution.

For the crew packing behind you, you could use the Accsoon Cineeye 2, it can stream a 1080p feed to 4 devices with apparently minimal lag. Works with iDevices and Android (more lag with Android). The app also gives monitoring functions like a recorder (focus peaking, false colors...). It's cheap too, 220€. I'm looking into it to be able to stream and check the focus on my iPad (bigger screen).

Hey Palle! I'm wondering if you notice a torsional resonance in the monopod when you rotate and stop? Do you have any suggestions for how to damp that movement?
@PalleSchultz
@PalleSchultz 2 жыл бұрын
For proper damping a tripod works better with a dampened head. The resistance on this rig, comes from the Edelkrone thingy. I hope I understand you right.
