So cool to see you go from concept artwork to animation to actually jamming. Thanks for this. Never thought to separate the body parts for independent control. Have you ever done 3d character design for videopaks?

@True Cuckoo for sure! I have been really enjoying blender alot. Some pretty amazing tutorials on YT. This video you made had this dudes video in the sidebar. It took me about 3 hours. I knew what I was doing. But I actually did a lot of commentary which I decided to cut. Perhaps I could’ve saved half an hour or so by not considering the video.

I was thinking about making it, but I'm not sure I had a good teacher's attitude while going through the raw material for this particular video. I'd rather make a 2nd tutorial which is more teacher centric, in the near future.

Hello Cuckoo, It is possible to make this type of animation where the sound source is an instrument with analog output and not midi? Thanks

To some extent it should be technically possible. But audio analysis comes with more uncertainty and more unpredictable outcome. If I were to try and solve it I would see if I could find an interesting audio to midi solution that could turn both pitch, frequency analysis and amplitude into midi. I would probably start by making a patch on the ZOIA and see how useful I could get it, and send the resulting MIDI into a MIDI interface.

The first (smaller) is an iPad Pro. The second (bigger one) is a Mac with a Wacom Cintiq Pro pen display.

What animation tablet do you use?

For the animation I was using an iPad Pro with the pixel art app Pixaki. Great for pixel style animations. For the computer I’m using a bigger Wacom Cintiq Pro 24.
