They left out the best part, the bit where he makes his own grandson taste the food incase its poisoned. Terrifying power move that tells you that Logan's ruthlessness is beyond what his kids are capable of. He goes for the throat.

Jesse Armstrong is undoubtedly one of the best writers working today. The way he writes scenes like this is incredible.

“I won’t even speak at your memorial.” *proceeds to give the best speech at his father’s memorial*

Logan really has a sadistic talent for getting under people's skin. He knows exactly what buttons to push to make it hurt the most, and he's fully aware of it. The way he describes the waiter's death to rub the most salt in Kendall's wound, it's just profoundly cruel.

"And I am a bad person?" The only time in the entire series we see Logan's voice almost break for a second. It did hurt him, and for a man like him that is as close to vulnerable as he would ever be. Legendary acting.

This was a very powerful scene. Top notch acting of the highest caliber.

“Oh, you just noticed didn’t you?” Is such an incredible line reading. The series does such a great job of subtly reminding you that the Roy children are actually not fit for this job. Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong are on another planet

Here’s my thing about Logan. He really doesn’t pretend he’s something he’s not. Kendall and Ewan pretend like they’re better, all the while extending their bowl for Logan’s money constantly. If they really were, they wouldn’t touch that money and simply leave. But those billions are just too sweet.

the sad thing( but kind of good) is that kendall could’ve twisted the knife talking about Rose when Logan brought up the waiter, but he just isn’t as cruel as Logan, that’s the difference between them

"Won't even speak at your memorial" and then he had to finally step up at the funeral and give people the other side of his father's story is the reason why Succession is the best piece of work ever produced anywhere, ever.

Poor Kendall, he always tries to see the best in Logan, oblivious that he's fighting a losing battle. Jeremy strong deserves ALL of the nominations and Emmys for his brilliant performance! 👏🏾♥️🎊

Worth noting that literally just before this Logan thought that Kendall might be trying to poison him and gets his OWN GRANDSON to try the food beforehand to see if it was, thus the first line "who do you think I am? You think I want you dead?" COLD.

I love how Brian conveys a hint of convincement. He starts buying into what Kendall is saying, becuase at some point he starts saying real life reasons as to why he wants out and that there is a plan (even if he takes 2B from him to start something for himself). But then he starts "you're corrupt, and evil and would do things I wouldn't yada yada bla bla". And at that instant he loses Logan, becuase he is "talking about things he doesn't understand". That is basically a form of Logan saying, "don't judge me without looking at yourself first". Very realistic display of a disfunctional father-son discussion/relationship, in that particular scenario.

"I'll be broken when you die" really hits hard now...

I love the writing and how Logan is able to twist the knife in order to put Kendall down. What a masterpiece of writing, performance, cinematography and directing is Succession.

This is my personal favorite scene in the entire series. You never see Logan and Kendall so raw, and this is maybe Logan at his absolute lowest. Bringing up the accident he knows haunts his son. He could let him out easily, it would be nothing to him at all, but that’s not how Logan operates. He wants his son under his thumb. He wants control over everyone and everything. “We’re out of here.” States it so whimsically like he could care less what Kendall does from here on out, he’s just not giving him what he wants. Why? Because.

People are saying Logan knows how to get under peoples skin, but I think Kendall was the one to get under Logans skin here. He says he's a good guy and that he doesn't want to be like Logan, and then Logan reacts by treating Kendall the way his Aunt and Uncle treated him about Rose, just using that waiter kid instead. As if to say "I'm not a bad person, and even if I am you're just as bad."

This scene is incredible because it shows growth from Kendall and displays the ability of Logan’s power to stun his kids growth - keeping them weak and submissive to him. In reality, a version of this conversation has probably happened between them tons of times. Logan needs his kids to be under his thumb for whatever messed up reason.

Revisiting this after the funeral episode made me realize that Kendal finally let go of his self image as the good guy. He knows that he have more of his dad in him and fully embracing it allows Kendal to finally be the leader Logan always wanted him to be. Not necessarily a nice thing, but definitely the first time he's truthful to himself.

Greatest show since the sopranos. The father son dynamic is insanely complex and varied, not a soapy moment of redemption at the end of a movie. Logan pulls the father card and judges the son in an instant to quash any thoughts of dissent.

Kendall really came here with the "I'm better than you" attitude and got schooled cause he was working as one of the higher ups of the company for 3 years before the show began. So the "you just noticed did you?" Was such a good line

One of the best scenes of the entire series. Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox as these characters are just incredible. This scene gave me goosebumps and I felt so much for Kendall.

For Logan, it’s not about good vs evil; it’s about being the best. In his business, that means being the best at exploiting people’s fears, desires, insecurities, for his own personal gain. And here he makes his point by doing just that to Kendall-expertly exploiting Kendall’s guilt as a negotiating tactic. So good.

I know that saying an actor “disappears into their character” is a tired cliche, but sometimes I really do forget that Kendall isn’t a real person. Jeremy Strong is such a talented dude

It's tragic to see this show come to an end but something as exquisite as this deserves not to be squeezed for 7 seasons into muck. When something is a work of art it should be left alone for others to view but never touch or alter.

I’ve read most of the comments about this scene and why Kendall reacted that way and why his dad reacted that way too but did no one else forget what Ken’s mum said Logan likes to kick everything he loves just to see if it will come back that’s why he said the birthday card was a joke which is really true (that was the kick ) but he was caught off guard by Ken’s response on wanting to be done and he could sense this was no bluff and it didn’t surprise that when he was biting back he had tears in his eyes because tho he was being cruel to his son he was angry because the thing he loves the most might not want him anymore ( you can clearly tell even from subtle scenes that out of everything in his life in his own twisted psychotic way he treasures ken the most and so him wanting out of the relationship he only sees betrayal) he was more hurt by this than when ken nearly kicked him out of his own company anyway moral of this when psychopaths love it’s just complicated 😂

My favorite dialogue in any tv show history ever. So much to uncover. So much truth about life told. I wish they included how Logan checked if the food was poisoned. That added so much to the scene.

2:03, Logan saying "maybe" is the perfect acting. Whole context and emotions executed in one word. That show had one of the best dialogues.

Despite of everything Kendall did or happened, he was a good guy from the beginning. He tried his best to love his father (got rejected), his mother (got ignored), and truly wanted to be with his siblings.

This scene is just incredible, and really illustrates how complex Logan Roy is. I do genuinely think he loved his children. But he's clearly experienced enough cruelty and brutality in his life to convince him that the world is simply a cruel and brutal place; and that it's every man for himself. As Kendall points out, he uses this cynical view of life and human beings to make his money; but he wouldn't be a success if there wasn't some truth to it. And as much as he loves his kids, I think he's continuously disappointed and frustrated at their naivety to not see the world in this way; and also their hypocrisy since they're all as amoral as he is, and yet they constantly call him a monster. He still sees them all as children that simply dont 'get it'. They’re not ‘serious people’.

Kendall whips out a triple decker list of demands followed by ‘then I’m a ghost’ 🤣🙌🏻

This scene is Phenomenal, actually this is the perfect illustration of what is a communcation between a Narcissistic Personality Disorder with Psychopathic profile parent and his child who has empathy. Kendall is making the worst mistake by showing is emotion to his narcissistic dad who doesn’t care. That’s why Kendall will never win, his empathy is seen as his worst weakness from his father. Great actors

i gotta say rewatching this in 2023- i used to see Logan as torturing Kendall, the line about keeping him around, and it is part torture, but also i think Logan is trying to push Kendall, to be like him. Be a killer. he wants Kendall to rise up to his level. Logan cant do that like i a normal person with positive reinforcement, he has to try to break down so you'll come back harder. hes a monster of course.

I took this scene as probably the first heart to heart (the roy way) father and son conversation in the whole show. Logan wasn’t as ruthless but still cut his son an enormous reality check.

Logan doesn't want to 'name' someone. Logan wants his successor to do exactly what he himself would do - take the company. and so far, kendall is the only one who has tried - he just f'd it up.

This conversation between them shows complexity of the father and son relationship they have,Logan was disappointed by Kendall’s suggestion of accepting his defeat by paying him off,I think some part of him actually wanted Kendall to keep going with the crusade at least for Logan,this would be more dignified.Logan Roy was a complicated father.
