This is the best advice on weight loss I've seen yet because it's "real life"! I find that your recipes and making healthier, lower fat versions of processed fattening foods helps a lot! And being patient for 3 months to really see results.

My husband and I have always been whole food advocates. Carrying an extra 30 pounds of weight, a year ago I decided to go extreme low carb and only 2 meals a day. I lost the weight, was always hungry & cold, and worst of all I became an insomniac. In the end I gained the weight back probably because I was restricting myself so much. Two months ago I decided to bring back the healthy carbs and go to 3 meals a day, what a difference! I am sleeping like a baby, I have increased energy, I am not cold all the time, and I am slowly losing that excess weight. I am more mindful to watch my portions (no weighing food, no measuring food or counting calories), and I do keep a daily food journal to make sure my day is balance. I have fallen I love with cooking again and feel great🥰

A few years back my husband passed after having health issues. Ok, then it was time for me to address some of my health concerns and having retired to the beach had to find a new physician. Big changes, blood work was not good so was enrolled in a diabetic teaching class at the local hospital. Since I was only cooking for myself it was a wake up call. Carbs and vegetables were my challenge. Loved carbs and not so much on the vegetables. Started cooking the vegetables with every meal, even spinach in my omlettes. Gave up bread, potatoes and my favorite corn dishes. Took me a year to get off my sugar medicine and get my numbers below average. Covid was a hard era as for shopping for fresh foods but today I am 5 pounds below where my endocrinologist wanted me to be for my age and height. Lesson learned, vegetables are a must for me and I have a potato once in a while but still limit my breads and pastas because they are a true weakness to me. At least I recognize my downfalls. Can I say ( love your videos and inspiration) how much I appreciate you sticking with us during these trying times. 🥰🙁

My biggest tip is eat food that you like so that u can keep eating that way. Find vegetables and proteins you like and make them multiple different ways for variety. create your own special "diet" of healthy food. (I consider healthy food any whole food with some exceptions)

I’m a new subscriber and have already cooked two things that I’ve seen in your videos! I have always struggled with healthy eating because it DOES feel overwhelming getting information from so many sources. I’m also a mother of 2 young children who are HOOKED on junk food. Being a working mom who’s also in college is very busy and it’s just a terrible habit for me to pop some processed food in the microwave for my kids and myself to ensure that we are fed before we leave for school every morning. I feel like the way you present your options for healthy eating does not overwhelm me and it’s not expensive! Since watching your channel, I was recently inspired to sort through and organize my entire kitchen, fridge and freezers. I think my first small steps to build my foundation are 1. Drinking enough water daily and making sure my children do as well, and 2. Cycling out the junk food! So when our frozen corn dogs run out, I’ll have learned some more healthy meals/snacks for my kids and just make those instead of replacing the finished corn dogs with a new box from the store.

Hi Brienna! Thank you for watching and for sharing. I love how you are getting clear on your foundations. And - remember to be easy fn yourself. As a working Mom who is also in college and making sure her kids are cared for and fed - it sounds like you are doing an AMAZING job! You can work on changing your habits while still giving yourself credit for all the hard work you are presently doing. XXOO

Hi Dani, thank you, loved this video and totally agree with your tips! 🥰As you say, we are bombarded with a lot of contradictory information and a food industry that creates such unhealthy products, including many that "look like" healthy but are not. Learning to differentiate what's good from what's not has been key to me...

This is great advice that is perfect for the New Year. I think my best, realistic advice is to take the foods you really love and find creative ways to make them more nutrient dense and well-balanced. I love mac and cheese, for example, but it's not a full meal on it's own because it doesn't have enough protein or fiber for satiety (for me, anyway). So I will blend up low-fat cottage cheese and nutritional yeast (protein) and add steamed broccoli (fiber) and add a salad on the side to make it a whole meal. Sometimes I skip the broccoli and just roast some asparagus on the side. I get to eat what I want, I love being creative with how I add more foods in, and I don't overeat on foods that are less nutrient dense because it's filling with those add-ins.

Love all of your videos and I thank you for them! So great to have someone like you working to help others in something that we all seem to struggle with! Your positive attitude and support are inspiring! You have a wonderful way about you and I can see that it is long-lasting! Good for you! I have been morbidly obese for a number of years due to a bad thyroid and overeating to try to get energy--and I have a horrible case of sleep apnea--I was convinced I could not lose weight--I did join Weight Watchers and that helped to turn my positive attitude on and thank goodness I managed to lose almost 100 pounds! I began to enjoy your recipes more and more and still love all of them and also your advice whenever I can! If ever I feel unfocused or depressed I know I can watch one of your videos and it actually helps me to regroup! Thank you for all that you do! I still have another 80 pounds to go to get to my goal weight but I feel it is do-able now and your presentation in this video confirm that for me. I am eternally grateful for your part in my journey! Hope you have a wonderful year with your adorable family and much success in all you do! Deborah in Massachusetts

great advice! I spent a year going through a transformation, I started taking ozempic for my type two diabetes and for 3 months could barely eat anything due to feeling nauseous, it did kill my appetite and helped kick my sugar addiction and of course I lost approximately 65 pounds over 6 months. Now I eat protein and lower carb vegetables and am doing much better, but I really believe getting off the sugar roller coaster, made where I am now, possible.

thank you I needed to hear this! after years of dieting and failing doing all kinds of diets and restrictions that i cant seem to sustain. I have come to surrender to the fact that all it comes down to is real food. It is very stressful to let go of the science and rules such as keto its actually scary to eat a piece of fruit . I am going to try to let go of the fear and go to whole foods and see how it goes.

One thing I did was to prep our healthy carbs once a week, be it black beans, quinoa, wild rice, etc. After cooking each type of carb, I would measure out two servings for my husband and me, place those two servings in ziploc bags, and freeze. Each night we would decide which carb we wanted with dinner, throw the chosen ziploc bag in the microwave, and boom! You're done! It makes meal prep so easy, and it keeps you from overeating.

Hi Dani i have watched your videos off and on for a while but ths time around your way of eatinf has really resinated with me and i have even made a couple of your recipes just within the last week. I tried to tag you on FB with my facenook but i am computer illerate so not sure if it worked :} Anywho, i am a type 2 diabetic currently very uncontrolled (trying to better now) i am wondering what your advice to me would be? I like that you use the natural sugars but i wonder if even those are ok for me? You are so right, there is so much information out there, especially when it comes to diabetes, that it is hard to know what to do. Thats why i like how you do it with the clean eating. I am not interested in doing keto, i think it is too restrictive for me and not sustainable. I also dont like the idea of intermitten fasting. shaky and "hangry if i go too long without eating. I have a food addiction/ emotional overeating problem and i could really use any help, advice, or support you could give me. Sorry i know this was a long post but i appreciate you.

Dani- So-Intermittent fasting? I have never done anything like this-just started this 2 weeks ago-Not sure this is right either-What are your thoughts on this. Just doing this 2 weeks has made me understand that I just had gotten off track. Not eating good meals, I had skipped lunch alot and snacked at night and never used too. Lots of stress. I still think your way is the right way-Its just I have never had to loose weight and honestly, I am so afraid nothing will work and I will stay this way or get bigger. I used to be a size 4,6,8 and now like a 8, 10,12. I'am 56 and I don't like it. I never went for skinny-strong and healthy. I have to say though even at a size 4,6-I thought I was fat. Self love and wisdom yes-Almost afraid to just love self- I feel it contributed to just giving myself permission to eat what and when I wanted-does that make sense? Any way, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. The oatmeal thing too-it has been villainized for the carb content. To eat or not to eat. You eat, but you work out alot-

I cut out all soda pop back in 2014 after being diagnosed with breast cancer . And then 3 yrs ago , just 4 days before I turned 52 I not only got diagnosed with being a Celiac but also found out I had 2 spots on my liver that were cancer. They got cut out .The surgeon I had told me I not only have to be gluten free for life but I also am on a Kosher diet and I also cant have any processed foods . I also drink 5 to 6 cups of green tea a day . Green tea naturally slims U and is also full of other natural benefits . and I also eat purty much almost all organic foods . When I want a snack 9 times out of 10 I just grab an apple . Cos if I'm not hungry enuf to eat an apple I'm not hungry . I make all of my food from scratch daily and I freeze my leftovers and make my own homemade TV dinners . Since where I live its really hard to find a Celiac Friendly place to go eat . So I mostly eat at home . And I have a super high metabolism so I have a lot of enegry and just burn it off by walking a lot or doing meditation and yoga moves .

THIS is a great video! Everything you've said was spot on that I needed to hear. Ironically, it's everything I've been working on changing and becoming aware of currently. My weight has fluctuated my whole life and it wasn't until recently I started putting small things together that have been working slowly, very slowly, but still working. I'll tell you what has recently helped me the most and that is understanding my relationship with food and why I'm eating. This has seriously been so recent and my epiphany moment that I don't know why I didn't have it years ago! I also stopped counting calories. I still make sure though that each meal is healthy and I not overeat and I allow myself 1 treat a night (1 piece of chocolate, fruit snack pack etc.) When I'm okay with allowing myself to have that treat it helps me not binge or feel like I'm being bad. Hope this helps someone.

What has been helpful to me lately is getting an education on what my body does during a fast. And also how eating processed foods causes my body to produce more insulin. (Which can eventually lead to diabetes) Realizing I’m addicted to sugar and my brain will demand it. That I won’t die, or faint without it! That’s a lie I have been believing. The truth has set me free!

What help me get on the move to achive my goals, or rather to start the journey, is a book called Principles by Ray Dalio. It really shows ideas on how anyone can become successful in life and how any can achive their goals.

Ahha moment. My emotions are messengers that I only need to stop for a moment and acknowledge it. I don’t need to find a solution or do anything, especially don’t go eat something to make me feel better. I’m going to try to be more aware of my emotions now in a gentler way.

I wish GMO went away along with high fructose corn syrup. It in almost everything!!! Food companies add stuff that knowingly makes people sick. Organic foods are expensive and I learned to read ingredients on everything because I'm helping to raise my 3 yr old great grandson and want him to get a good start. Thank you for these tips. I lost 40 lbs when I started eating more fresh veggies and less meat. So basically I've become a vegetarian.

I don't think GMOs are what you think they are. Technically all bananas grown today were genetically modified (gmo) to not have the seeds they originally had in them when found in the wild. They are all clones of the same banana without seeds. However organic bananas are grown without pesticides and all that harmful cancer causing chemicals while the "normal" bananas are grown with those gross pesticides. I use bananas as an example but this is the same with all GMO food. They are just choosing the best genetics to breed with another plant that has great genetics to produce a higher quality product. I'm sure most produce in stores today are generically modified for better consumption.

What has really helped me focus my attention on healthy cooking is purchasing a recipe-grocery shopping app called Paprika. I’ve downloaded recipes into this app, use it for grocery shopping and meal planning. It was a serious game changer for me. I went from hating to cook to now being passionate about it. KZfaqrs like yourself inspire me to keep going.

I lose weight by drinking a juice glass of grapefruit juice and an 8 oz. glass of water or an 8 oz. bottle of water and I lost 43 1/2 pounds in a month and a half and ate the same food as my boyfriend and my family I didn't eat any special foods or weight loss pills or foods

I was thinking about this idea the other day. Let me ask you this. Food preppers (end the world type of people), You never see them talk about healthy eating/prepping (calories, protein, carbs, etc). It might even be a business opportunity for you to swoop in. Can a food prepper be mentally sane and eat clean and delicious while trying to think about marshall law and how to defend their food/home with their guns and also knowing they can't go outside for a daily run for exercise because they have to protect their food or simply might die just by leaving their home cuz it's a mad Max type of world. When one plans ahead to live clean and healthy, how far does one plan before running off the road over the cliff into madness and being consumed with all of this and becoming that insane person? In just a couple weeks all the new gym goers will throw away their New Year's resolutions. This is just some thoughts for you to ponder. It could be expanded.

I would consider myself a prepper and I eat keto/ carnivore. With that said I stock up on lots of meat, both shelf stable and freezer! I also consider myself mentally sane and ready to protect myself and my food!

My darling, you can lose weight without counting calories. Start with this simple tool - > before eating, ask yourself, "Am I hungry?" - when eating, pause and ask, "Have I had enough?". I know this seems TOO simple - but try it for one week. Also - notice - if you are not hungry and still want to eat - lots to learn there. XO
