The key in his save is the throttle just as much as the steering. If he didn't let off for the split second, around he would have went like so many others

Most endurance races tend to spread out quite a lot as the hours wear on, but on the Nurburg 24h there's just SO many cars and they're all so different in terms of pace that it's got to be constantly fighting through traffic... absolutely nuts

That crash clearly put him off his stride. 06:42 when he lost control and shaked his head proves it. Anyway, sick driving, great driver, awesome race, intense video!!!

One of the best cockpit views i've ever seen! Best track in the world with the best cars in the world! I think every car in this video is a german car except for 4 or 5 cars wasn't (peugot, Mazda, Renault...) Many BMW.
@MR11257112 жыл бұрын
great video. not only is there a major difference in the capabilities of the car, there is also a major difference in the capabilities and skill level of the drivers which may be more important than the differences in the cars.
@nghonleong12 жыл бұрын
the lap time for this lap is around 8mins 30 seconds.....and yes, I do believe the speed is REAL. The race SLS is not a slow race car! The traffic is really bad......on a track this narrow! Racing here would be my dream, as a race car driver myself. Good video, no need bother about ppl who question if the speeds are real...

If you need to synthetize what a VLN race is, This video is perfect. I mean, lapping or being lapped is the key. Tight road, a lot of very different cars. Is tough, expecially in a slower car, a lot of time watching mirrors. It's very easy to made a mistake but that's racing. Thanks for the video, it's spectacular.
@FerrarisRock12 жыл бұрын
Video still doesn't give justice to the speed at which these guys drive... Trust me, these are only GT3 cars but they would absolutely blow the mind of half of you if you got a chance to drive one... The camera also doesn't relay the speed that these cars dive into corners, modern aerodynamics are unbelievable even at this level! I hope one day I get the opportunity to have a go in a DTM, GT1 or GT500 car as I've heard (and watched them) they are absolutely outrageous through the corners!

@agent47racing : Laptime is aprox. 8'40" in this video. Pole position for this car during this race was 8'14"961. The video is definitely not sped up. The cars move a lot on their suspension because the Nürburgring is very bumpy.

The lap time for this particular lap would be roughly 8:20 min., which would still be 20 slower than the best lap times these SLS have posted last season. Although I understand your considerations there is little reason to doubt that this is the correct video speed.

@Raceboy911- When it comes to video and race cars, I know what I'm looking at. The video looks different and faster than what is normal. It's most likely due to it being shot at a frame rate of 60 FPS. It's obvious to me that it looks unusually fast compared to what I normally see on KZfaq and other video sites. I shoot and edit video of cars every day with over 8TB of footage on my drives. It may not be sped up intentionally but to my eyes, it looks faster than normal.

I always wish we could here what the driver is saying to himself at points like that. I'm assuming a noise of some description will come out when two cars in front of you collide.
@SkarnDeBrax12 жыл бұрын
This is the normal speed, if the movement seems to be unnatural, it's because the car move and vibrate a lot.

@DeathEaterCobra- I've been too busy to address all of the sharp replies to my statement but this is what I have been thinking. 60 FPS will make a video with lots of action seem cartoonishly quick and makes sense to me when watching this video. Thanks for replying with creative criticism : )

@agent47racing @agent47racing Easy to prove that there is no speed up: the lap starts at 1:32 and ends at 10:10. So it takes him 518 Seconds (8min 38s) to go round the Nürburgring. And now take a look at the results of VLN #4 here: www_vln_de/ergebnisse/2011-05-28r_html ( use "." instead of "_") The Heico SLS is P7, and by clicking on the number (19) you can see every laptime of this car. Here it is Lap 3 - surprise - 8:37,824 :)

@rowanrobinson- True. You never know who is behind the keyboard. I have no motivation to discredit the poster. It just looks a few % faster than reality. (A reality that I am very familiar with)...If you look at another video of this SLS on the same channel with the same angle, you will see that this definitely looks just a tad faster. Look at how the slower cars move. They seem to be cornering cartoon-ishly quick, and the body roll doesn't match the speed that they appear to be travelling.
